    Yeah,sowhat....

There are and were some dedicated AROS computers, but all were/are pointless as one could use just dumpster dived HW...

So in the end "supporting" AROS wasn't really anymore than preinstalling VICE was for supporting 8Bit C=.

Most buyers just selected the Windows option. The so called "CommodoreOS" never got past a curiosity.

I'll admit to that sin myself, I use Windows in preference to OSX/MacOS or Linux.
I will not pay the premium demanded for Apple hardware, when I know it will fail or be obsoleted just as quickly or quicker than commodity Windows hardware.
And Linux never seems quite finished.

What I want, is what no one will give me. A quick booting, streamlined OS based on a micro kernel.
    Sound familiar?

Yes, I think four dual-threaded 1.8 GHz e6500 cores can cope with two single-threaded 1.7 GHz Cortex-A15 cores. On a per-core/thread base, they should be about on par I think.

You mean the MorphOS team hasn't started yet? ;-)

    > we don't need high end X64 power

POWER9 with comparable single-core performance would be nice nonetheless :-)

Web browsing on platforms without (fast) JS JIT and video decoding on platforms without GPU acceleration should require even faster CPU performance than on platforms that have these things :-)

Wow, looks professional (at least the website).
    Hopefully, they are sane.

    @Jim

I hope your being sarcastic, cos all I see is website-template filled with some stock pics and zero real info.

It's either someone trying to trigger Salva or Salva himself trying to play multinational.

Cos is anybody wanted to produce 68k or PPC HW neither the name Phase5 nor the designs would be of any use today.

The last G3 based project was interesting.
But we'd be better served by inquiring with Sonnet about licensing their G4 PCI design.

And of course I was kidding.

Bill Buck still has access to bPlan's manufacturing.
As far as I know, there is nothing left of Phase 5 but a name.

Check out their address on google maps.

Doesn't look like there's much room for manufacturing in someone's house.

20 years out of whack, components that can only be found at the recycler and products that couldn't be sold legally (RoHS).

    Yeah sure.....

If someone wanted to do a PPC accelerator today it would be based on a SoC + FPGA to connect to the 68k. Already been done with ARM (just not useable on the SW-side).

Well. In the US, RoHS only applies to commercial products.
I can build anything I want, and even distribute it within limited circumstances.
But yeah. This is all bullshit.

“Commercial products” pretty much sums up what a business does.

But not as a business, right?
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)
MorphOS NG will be AROS done right! :-)

I can charge you for my costs, but no, only as a hobbyist.

UK will/may finally, painfully Brexit at some point when they pull their head out of their collective arse, at which point RoHS 2002/95/EC will no longer apply to it (unless it's ratified by UK parliament).

Yes, I know you still can't sell non-RoHS stuff directly in the EU, but eBay's been doing that illegally for years, so there is a niche for the UK to flood the mainland with cheap unregulated shit like China does now but worse. Given that the endgame for Brexiteers (the rich ones, not the idiots voting for it because they don't like funny accents) is to turn the UK into some kind of new tax-haven Taiwan or Singapore in the Atlantic, this kind of thing is much more likely.

I don't think it's likely in this particular case, but it is a possibility.

    Something I wasn't aware of:

"He got the real files actually from DCE that owns the rights. (!!) he had some kind of reproduce agreement. (not buying the rights!.. BIG difference) he made a downpayment and got the data.. [...] he however never paid the rest of the agreed sum of money."
