Attempting to setup triple booting on my Sam46oex.
    Amigaos 4.1,Linux and MorphOS.
Adding Morphos as a third option with its current boot loader has added some challenges.

Are you using yaboot on the Linux side? It should be no problem then. One seperate HFS-partition for each OS-kernel (MorphOS, AmigaOS, Linux) is necessary. Then edit /etc/yaboot.conf by adding
    Code:
    macos=/dev/sdaX
    macosx=/dev/sdaY
with X,Y-partition numbers for the MorphOS and AmigaOS partitions you created before. After that you write the changes back via Code:
    ybin -v
    .

There is no yaboot for Sam460ex .
The boot loader for Sam460ex is called parthenope or ub2lb.
It works with AmigaoS 4.1 and Linux.
I hope that Morphos will eventually support it.
As Morphos currently does not support parthenope I had to install MorphoS on a separate hard drive which I have now connected to the Sam460ex on board SATA port. This required removing the ENVY24hT sound card and reverting to use the onboard sound for AmigaOS and Morphos.
To boot Morphos I need to temporarily set the 1st boot device in uboot to the Sam460ex SATA.

    Next problem:
enabling the on board Sam460ex SATA controller exposed a problem in the Linux kernel that cases a kernel panic. There were some changes made a while ago but as I have not been using the Sam460ex SATA I had not noticed the issue. So simple solution recompile the kernels without support for the Sam460ex SATA. Done and working.

    Edit: corrected ub2lb. Thanks Andreas_Wolf.

    HFS on a Sam460? Why?

An interesting issue is the video card.
The only MorphOS supported model that I have is an OEM Radeon HD6570.
It it works with DVI out with AmigaOS 4.1 and Linux but not with MorphOS.
I can only get a display with MorphOS by using a DVI to VGA adapter.
This results in an default 800x600 display .
I used to have the same issue under AmigaOS 4.1 with this card but later versions of the RadeonHD driver and OS have solved this.
Waiting for MOrphos to support my newer video cards ,the HD6670 and HD7750.

Has anyone run any of the popular Benchmarks under MorphOS on Sam460ex ?

I ran the Mplayer Prometheus-Trailer benchmark and got the following :

    MorphOS 3.9 = 195.504
    Ubuntu-Mate 15.10 = 311.379
    AmigaOS 4.1 FE = 405.522

Can you give me specifications on how to replicate that benchmarking? I want to try it on my Mac Mini :-)

Also, is lower or higher better? What are the numbers, seconds?

mplayer -benchmark -nosound -ao null -vo null -lavdopts skiploopfilter=none Prometheus-Trailer.mp4

Lower is better and the results are in seconds .

The MorphOS value is prett ynice - not too far from the PegII value. Thanks for providing these numbers.

Here is my benchmark from a Mac Mini 1.5 Ghz:

    BENCHMARKs: VC: 88.680s VO: 0.015s A: 0.000s Sys: 2.299s = 90.994s
    BENCHMARK%: VC: 97.4564% VO: 0.0170% A: 0.0000% Sys: 2.5266% = 100.0000%

[edit] Closed all apps and redid the test, with better results.

    @ Yasu

It is important to note that the Linux results are a lot closer to the MorphOS ones on the same hardware. Still quite a bit slower but the difference is not nearly as drastic.

Could be in the compiler or compiler options used.

Less skills coders responsible for writing the code probably. Or so many kludges and work arounds in the codebase due to still supporting the broken Eyetech hardware perhaps?

If I get time over the weekend I'll try the same test on my Peg II with both OS4.1FE and MOS3.9 and post the results.
