The so-called "x-kernel" was a branch of the trunk used to experiment with multi-core. We don't use it any more. I just had a chat with Thomas and he doesn't think we'll use much of the code from the x-kernel branch but instead reimplement that functionality on the trunk."

This is try #3 I believe. We tried the first time with the X-Kernel. That didn't work. The 2nd time was much much better. And this is the 3rd strike, so we're hoping the third one works."
