...unless you go for a Catweasel MKIII... :)

Do you have alot of Amiga formatted disks that you'd like to read?

Anyway, I think this setup looks ok. Perhaps you should consider
80-120 GB harddisk rather than 40 GB.

Do *NOT* buy memory in advance, as many memory modules are bit "problematic" on Pegasos - either they don't work at all, or work with half the capacity.

I'd get better connection, or at least check that the modem is supported by Poseidon USB stack...

    Cooler

Not sure, if you need that, but it won't hurt having one either...

20GB FFS? I would definitely *NOT* do that, I use FFS only for my bootimage partition (As that has to be FFS) - SFS elsewhere... Also, have at least 3 partitions... Or that's my recommendation (So that you'll have space for backing up second one, should you need to, it's also easier to split 1 of 2 big partitions to smaller ones, than splitting one HUGE partition, as you need to back that up first)

Dear friends, thanks for such a quick help.

Yes, I have found memory list, I will give it to my hardware dealer. Better connecton I cant have for several years, as I live in Belgrade, Serbia, but tell me how to find USB stack capatibility list.

I prefer having and managing 2 partitions than 10 smaller. I can`t get smaller new HDD than 40GB and IDE ATA100 will be problem next year (SATA only!)

But, I will manage. About SFS: I have never used it and I don`t remeber the FFS limitations (specialy I don`t know MorphOS FFS) because last Amiga HDD I had was 1.2GB.

Anyway, my Amiga friends, I don`t have any 880K floppies anymore. I have backed them all to CD`s either in LZX or in DMS and I trashed my DD floppies as 720K PC floppy was funny next to CD-burner at PC. So I don`t need floppy.

Any further comments on hardware are welclomed,
and I hope to join you in early 2004. Several hundreds euro is hard to obtain here, but I ll do my best.

    Voila! 8-)

    I agree. :-D

Old ATA is not going away and will be available for few years
still. But in two years SATA is more common and cheaper than current
ATA interface. So better buy large HD now because later on it can be
    too late.

For large partitions I recommend SFS. It is not perfect but far better
    than FFS, IMO.

Jupp: those old recommended Memory types are for Pegasos 1 ... Pegasos 2 has different nothbridge and it needs much newer DDRams. So that list ain't much use for those who are purchasing Pegasos 2:s

Well, the post read "Pegasos MB" so I thought it would be Pegasos 1...

MorphOS needs to have bootimages on FFS partition, it is recommended to set up small (max 20MB) partition, that's used for those files (and that partition doesn't need to be mounted on bootup)

But about managing partitions... Think a bit about how to manage, if something goes wrong... You might end up having to back up one big partition somewhere... Wouldn't it be better if it was "only" 20GB, and not 40GB?

    Getting lively!

Nice! I hope we will get to some true recommendations for all future users.
Now I have SWEEX USB 56K modem
(I can tell you latter what chipset) and
MUSTEK b@arpaw 1200 scanner, and I think of buying HP 1010 or similar EPSON USB printer.
Can I use this with my future Pegasos?
What do we know about this USB stack?

And about Pegasos II, much fuss, but I can rarely see what it is. On Genesi site I can just see Pagasos I ve been talking of. OK good, It is easer to find DDR400 than DDR266 now, SATA or ATA133
than ATA100 so I hope it will be "up to date" using new VIA solutions.

    PARTITIONING:

c: (or HD0:?) shall be 20MB boot only,
next to it HD1: for MorphOS and software
and next to it one EXT2 Linux partition.

And what about NT? Anyone tried NT 3.5 or 4 for PPC? Is there any software for Windows PPC? :)
