Hey guys, I've got a powermac g5 2.7ghz with a Radeon9800XT. A lot of 3d intensive games run very well, and it seems like every new ported game runs very tremendously.

However, I didn't really get into morphos because I wanted to run newly ported games :) I got into morphos because I wanted to run classic amiga 68k and ppc stuff. So, I really want to swap the 9800XT for something that will let me play games like shogo, wipeout, etc., and I can really just play quake on my pc laptop much better than on morphos anyway.

So, what's the best card I can throw in the powermac to try to retain as much as my current level of game performance but also be able to run warp3d stuff?

    Thanks!

Actually, cards native to this platform (the R300 and R400 cards) don't support Warp3D.
Since Radeon 9200 and 9250 cards are 8X AGP, I don't see why a flashed PC 9200 couldn't be used.
I don't think anyone has tried that yet though.

I'm looking at a Mac Radeon 9250 with 128mb. Hopefully it works. If not I can sell it likely what I bought it for. :)

    Does not compute....

Use that same old laptop to play Shogo and a Playstation1 (or emulator) to play wipeout ;)

    These only exist re-flashed, btw.

Hm, so I've been trying to find info about agp+pci and am a bit unclear. Can I keep the 9800XT in the AGP slot and use a PCI radeon on another monitor, flashed for Mac, at the same time?

    Thanks for the help. :)

Sadly all Radeons are bundled in 1 driver which will only regocnize 1 card at a time.

So if you want to use 2 cards at the same time, you'd need one to be a non-Radeon like a Voodoo3.
The MorphOS driver for the Voodoo doesn't care wether the card is initilaized by the OpenFirmware so normal PC cards are known to work in G4 PowerMac. AFAIK noone has yet tried such a combo in a G5, but there is no obvious reason why it shouldn't work.

Such a setup would be o.k. to run Warped3D stuff on the 2nd monitor.

Sweet! Thanks, I'll give it a shot. Presumably Voodoo 3/3000 is the best PCI card I can add for an ideal warp3d experience, so I'll search for that and keep my 9800XT.
