Macally_G-S350SUA.jpgI use a firewire external drive to boot OS X from w/o problems on my Powerbook 5.6. I haven't modified anything at firmware level nor did any other actions. It's a bog standard FW400 harddisk (by iomega) and a bog standard Powerbook and it works OOTB here.
