Recently bought an external HDD case with USB 2.0/FireWire 400/eSATA ports and updated the firmware to fix various FW bugs.
Probably going to use it for backups only but installed OS X on it just to test FW boot - it works but only on my PowerMac.. the PowerBook takes an awful long time to find
no external drive connected on the boot screen!
(The FW 400 port is not broken as I did install OS X using the PB)
Q: is this a known PB software bug?
Q: could a FW 400 to FW 800 adapter make it boot?
