My previous setup with 3.6 was pretty buggy. I dont know if its a MorphOS thing or pack Chrysalis or even a hardware issue (I dont think its hardware since OSX ran fine on it).

Previous symptoms on 3.6 included things like, from cold boot the system would load up, mouse was useable, but nothing worked..no menus would pop up, couldnt click on anything etc... random crash. A while back I asked about debugging MorphOS so I can see wtf is going on...it made MorphOS a drag to use since it would crash sometimes.

Well, fast forward to last night..so far its been acting better. No issues like the previous. I'll have to test some more. After a update from 3.6 --> 3.7, I did see this requestor which was very strange. Havent seen it since:

Weird. Is it a clean installation? I remember Pack Chrysalis mocking up my G5 system too, so I reverted to an older version and havn't updated the pack since. I think I used PC 3.2.

If you have a fresh backup, reinstall MOS and see how it behaves.

Originally it was a clean install, then I added Chrysalis. If I still have issues, I'm going to go with 3.7 clean install.

You guys should have the Chrysalis pack on a diff partition and keep a clean morphos partition the Chrysalis packs adds so many libraries and hacks its amazing. Its super cool for beginners to get started though. Even saves pros lots of work but I wish there was a selectable software installer as part of the package.

Don't install Chrysalis on your only MorphOS installation if you want a stable system. As magnetic already said, it's an impressive collection, but it regularly messes up systems. Keep a clean installation on one partition - you can have a Chrysalis pimped MorphOS on another partition.

Ok. That's exactly what I did. I'll redo my install from scratch this weekend.

Ok..Its been a while since I updated this post. Well MorphOS 3.7 is reinstalled and so far running great. I'll keep testing. If it runs without issues, then I also recommend not using Chrysalis. Sorry..sounds bad but....

At any rate..Does MorphOS 3.7 support samba shares without additional software? I ask because I cannot mount my samba share..says IP not accessible, yet I can ping it and can get on the net. Am I missing a step somewhere?

You need to specify the system name or add the IP to MorphOS host list. IP alone does not work.

Well.. so far so good. MorphOS 3.7 installed on my G5 without Pack Chrysalis and it runs great. Backman doesnt crash when making backups. Testing it now to back up a few GB to my NAS. So far so good.
