Joystick Calibration

I have a Thrustmaster dual 3.2 joypad usb which is automatically recognized and setup properly by MorphOS.

However, I also have an arcade stick (usb) which is not (up/down directions of stick doesn't work properly, though buttons and right/left work).

Bottom line is that joystick needs calibration.

Is there anything similar to this for MorphOS? I have reached until that level but I am not sure how to use the options menu and actually calibrate up/down. I think that the arcade stick is recognized as analog btw (if that helps anyone).

Finally, does anyone know if this will work?

You need to go deeper into HID settings and try to change the device reports. Quite likely your device reports bogus data via the USB HID descriptor - very common for shit devices.

    Thanks for your reply.

I locate the device, I click on settings, I tick the report feedback/current value.
I do understand that the values do not correspond to a properly calibrated joystick for x,y axis and also for some buttons when pressed/released (there seem to be some sort of lag), BUT I don't understand how to configure it.
I must set correctly the up/down direction and also some buttons.
This is a southpaw 9 buttons arcade stick, granted it is made on China, but it is no cheap at all and provides the best feeling for classic gaming (iGame/Mame/Snes etc and on Windows it works really well but I need it on MorphOS Mostly, since this is my Amiga after all :)).

I also have the same issue, I have a futuretronics USB Strikepad that would suit perfectly if the directional buttons just worked correctly. But try as I might, no matter what I do I cannot get the directional buttons to work correctly - Everything else works, just not the directional buttons.

I have also tried a PS3 Dualshock controller which, suprisingly, does not work at all, and an Xbox 360 controller that isn't even recognised correctly and cannot seem to bind to a class.

I bought a Logitech USB PC gamepad in the hope that it would work, but it did not.

If I just knew what gamepad to get I'd buy one tomorrow, but I just cannot fork out anymore $$ if there is a chance that the device just may not work....

The xbox360 controller will work just fine - simply open USB preferences, go to the classes list and press Dir Scan.

This is guaranteed to work with latest MorphOS I have installed (and you can find it really cheap on eBay..).

So I have upgraded my system to MorphOS3.6 and apparently the PS3 Dual Shock controller is now supported, however, while it is recognised in Trident as running with a green light as HID.class I have yet to actually get it working in any games!

What do I have to do to get the DS3 controller working?

Uhm, while it may be recognized, there's no support for this pad really - it needs extra code in the driver.

I am willing to look into a driver, if someone feels like donating a couple of euro :)

Can you please take a look at THIS screen grab from my miscalibtrated arcade joystick and tell me what is wrong and how I can fix it? (if it is possible of course..). You can get raw image/fullsize of the grab HERE.

Well... what is wrong with this pad exactly? It does not seem to look miscalibrated. It does however seem to have a totally broken HID descriptor, as is the case with most SHIT pads :) You may want to enable 'Track incoming events' and see which toggles correspond to which entries in the list in your screenshot.

There are 2 probs: 1) Up and down do not work. 2) Buttons when pressed respond with lag.

Btw, Z axis (134 value) is trembling between 127 to 134 with "track incoming events", even thought the stick seems to be in idle.

Given the fact that there is virtually no alternative to this right handed stick arcade controller foun on eBay, suitable for all sorts of classic gaming, I am left with no choices cause I suck with standard joypad on SWOS and MAME :(
