I still need to identify what the actual issue with PMac G5 machines is.
I only managed to run some HD2xxx/HD3xxx cards on my PMac PCIe G5 so far.

I had a HD5450 running in my PCIe-PMac G5 and my current HD4550 works too. A HD6450 I tried some years ago did not work.

Well, does it work in MorphOS as I don't care much if any kind of Linux works really ... ? I at least have several cards that don't ...

Yes, these two work on MorphOS. Another HD6450 did not work in MorphOS.

I sold the HD5450 but still have the HD4550 which I can put in for tests. Latest when bigfoots driver gets initial RV710 3D support. ;-)

Ok, good to know that it isn't some generic issue starting with R(v)7xx cards at least. It might be reasonable to collect some details for the apparently working and non-working cards.
We should probably start to create a list of models/brands that supposedly work.

This reminds me that last year I posted a small list of cards that had been reported to work:

And it is still as useless as last year without any detailed info on memory size and/or vendor plus output connector options added for most cards to at least get an idea of what might be different.

So it's probably no disadvantage to have Linux running on the G5 and get the relevant data of cards working/not working on MorphOS via lspci -vv -s [busnumber] ;-) ^^

It's at least been useful enough to have known already last year that it's not true that "none of the Evergreen based cards work" ;-)

Ok i will go then for the 5870 non Mac Edition. I have still my Radeon 9650 that supports the OF.

You got a PCIe Radeon 9650 with Mac BIOS that works on a G5 11,2? I thought the only G5 OpenFirmware capable cards were the X1950 and the Nvidia ones??

Sorry my bad. I Mixed that Up with my PMac 2,7 Ghz and AGP.
OK gonna get me a Radeon 5870 from XFX and will tell you how it works. But not before September going to vacation.
If you are looking for a good and fast Card that is supported by the new driver then get you the 5870. It's the fastest afaik. The 6870 is slower then the 5870.
