    > Are you intentionally blocking iMac G5 from booting on MOS 3.2?

MorphOS has always been blocked from booting on non-supported machines even if it would somehow boot if not blocked. The MorphOS Team has always been very open about this.

I guess this has been addressed somewhere else already but, are there any hardware problem that makes a port difficult?

What I mean is, are there any good reason not to port to the iMac G5, except for the "there is plenty of hardware already" argument? If there are parts that are hard/impossible to port then we have a straight answer there of why not. Otherwise, a bounty like with the Powermac G5 seems like a good idea. Then there will be hardly any hardware left to port that's worth porting.

Wouldn't work due to the OS licence not being per person, but per machine.

That is a business decision, that can be changed, if it seems advantageous.
When businesses saturate their (G4) market, they adopt new business plans,
or may stagnate. Someone mentioned a slow G5 uptake. I think when the few quirks are fixed,
a lot of people will buy in. The G5, in it's day, had appeal beyond just the raw stats.
Kind of like mid '60's muscle cars, or someones first Benz ;-)

Could a thriving cottage industry of recycled age-ware computers emerge,
if the fourth and subsequent licences were at 50?. No law against having both
a machine, and a personal license issued, to limit abuse. I could imagine
some folks could find a place at home, for a mini, a laptop, and a desktop,
270 in license fees, in my hypothetical case, still a pretty nice stack of cash
    to morph about with.
    Cheers

Probably limited resources to do that and the fact that current G5 port has to be more polished?

I think its been proven by now that I am not the only one on here asking for this.
Can we get a list of what does/doesn't work on the iMac G5?
I can get them for as little as $100.
However, now it seems you'd like me to get a tower G5 and license it first.
Well, I'd prefer to get an iMac G5 and boot into a unfinished MOS instead and wait for the rest of the drivers.
    :-D
I see no need to buy and license a giant tower I don't really want.

Frankly, I just went lower end and added an iBook.
    That port made sense.
And the higher end Power mac G5s make sense to me.
    It gives us powerful systems.
iMacs? Don't appeal to the hacker in me.

Well, it looks like I will get the tower, but only the one that is 2.7ghz just for the raw speed I will put up with owning a desktop computer for now.
The price seems to be around $250 to $300 for the 2.7ghz version on ebay.

"I finally got around to downloading the latest MorphOS 3.2 version to install on my PowerBook and the two Mac G5 devices I recently acquired - an iMac and a 2.5GHz PowerMac. [...] I did not see my iMac included on the list of supported MorphOS devices, but I decided to give it a go anyway. As you might expect it did not work."

Converting Powermac to heatsinks and fans. LCS is going bye bye.

I see them cheaper on craigslist. The latest is under $200, with a
color calibrated monitor. I think some architectual or graphics firm
is clearing out a storage closet, based on location, and other
offerings. Good luck in the quest!

Funny, I thought if anyone was going to carry this ball it would have been Frank or Mark.
You guys just keep demanding support and it materializes.
Well, here to yet another neat development.
I'll be completely happy to stay with this ISA for quite awhile.
Now if we only had more complete OpenGL support...

Well, Frank did the port. And - as said - it is just a demo that it could be done. There are no plans to release or finish the ports.

Pity, these guys keep clamoring for it.
Personally, I'm fine with what we already have.
I'm not really impressed with the reliability of the iMac models.

Reviving this old thread with an mostly unanswered question:

What is it that makes an iMac G5 port difficult? PM G5 is here. iMacs have Radeon cards. And we got a working proof of concept since years back. So what's holding back an official release?

The problem is that we have way too many models that are supported already and there are always specific issues to solve. what isnt visible from the outside are often the subtle differences even for a specific model over its whole production period which are not made public ....
