Looks like you are quite knowledgeable regarding freescale's product line, or at least you come across that way. I guess I will count on you to let us know when something really interesting comes out that might make a good chip to base the next MorphOS computer on.

I can't remember how I stumbled across that site and read about those chips, but most of it is over my head.

freescale.com -> "See all" [products] -> "Power Architecture"

...would lead to that specific page :-)

Andreas is much more than knowledgeable: He hunts for interesting news and remembers about a four months old thread that mentioned somethig about it. That's impressive. I've been into forums since many years, and never found such a person.

In all, you can almost feel free to forget about anything, that Andreas will point you exactly to it afterwards. Of course, that's a bit too much, but it's my impression.

I've asked Andreas severral times about his metodology, to be able to do these amazing things. It seems he remembers ewverything! I wonder if he has some kind of knowledge database or something.

Not having an amigaworld.net account I'll ask here.

    Zylesea claimed over there:

"there are plans to move QorIQ to 64 bit."
    http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=31439&forum=33&start=60#555581

Anybody know anything about this or can provide a reliable source?

As you can also see, Andreas ignores me systemmaticaly. It's curious, I've asked him a couple of times, about how he organizes so much information.
In another thread he gave some details, and made me think it's all in his head, which I find amazing, and would like to know more.

While the thread topic is "Content Processing" it's not about me or any other forum member doing so, but about Power Architecture CPUs ;-)

    > he [...] made me think it's all in his head

This, and an ability to make proper use of search engines.

    > I [...] would like to know more.

    There's nothing more to it.

Thankyou Andreas! This confirms the guy is amazing. Now, back to "content processing", sorry for the off topic...

    Update:

    > The first e500 based SoC that would be suitable will be the upcoming
    > QorIQ P4 sub-family with its e500mc core (and with P3 and P5 following).

Seems the first QorIQ P3 and P5 sub-families's members are going to be announced shortly.

Nice table on page 38 (document dating August 2009(!)):
    http://www.ebv.com/fileadmin/products/Press_Print/Brochures/MIP/2009_08_11%20MIP%202_2009_lowres.pdf
    (including P3040, P3041, P3042, P3043 and P5020)

QorIQ roadmap on page 36 (as of April 2010):

(and an interesting i.MX roadmap on page 26)

    Edit: P3041 and P5020/P5010 got quasi-announced.

    Edit: Changed FTF presentation URLs.
Edit2: Changed link to Freescale company overview PDF to Google cache because document is no more.

People, get a look at these new CPUs. Not primarily aimed at desktop computing, but very serious looking!

I bet an evaluation board costs a fortune... A constant mistake from freescale.
