I have guarddog disabled right now, but have tried both
ways. I enabled the "tun" device in the net config
and the Mac shows "tap0" inside the tcp/ip settings on
DHCP. When I start IE it justs sits for a bit then says
    it can't open the page...

Hmmm.. you enable tun, but the console output when MOL starts says TAP ?? So you also enabled the TAP device ? Try to comment the TAP and SheepNET and only use the TUN in the molrc.network config.

Sorry to jump in but I'm hoping somebody can tell me
what obvious thing I'm doing wrong here. :-D

I'm trying to get PegXLin up and running.
I added a new drive, created three new partitons, then rebooted.
At the Of prompt I typed:
    boot zimage.intrd.chrp video=radeon hdc=ide-scsi

    I get:
error while trying to load or boot

I've tried hda to hdd, with no joy.
    any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Robert.

I think the install image is called "install" for
pegxlin. Copy the files "install" and "Pegxlin"
from the cd to where you hold your boot
    images for best results.

    Something like this should work:
    boot install video=radeon hdd=ide-scsi

After formatting the Linux partitions via the
installer, choose the "execute a shell" option and type:
    cd bin
    hdinstall

That should get it started, but be sure to read the
docs on the cd carefully too. :)

    P.S:
When starting pegxlin I suggest also passing the l2cr=0x80000000
option to enable the l2 cache and get a bit more speed.

Hmmm...this could be my problem. I'm on dial up so I got a mate with broadband to download PegXLin & put it on a CD. It's only one huge file with a .iso extension.
I take it I should be able to see several files on the CD?

ISO files are images of an iso9660 filesystem
that most computer data cds use. The iso file
needs to be written to a cd as an "image"
instead of a plain file. You can do this using
the MakeCD demo on MorphOS/Amiga or Nero etc.
on a PC. Once it's written as an "image"
the cd should contain many files. ISO is
like a raw dump of a CD, kind of like
"adf" or "dms" is for floppies.

Quickest way: Start Nero on a PC. Pick
"Write Image" from the first menu on the
    left. :)

Hello people, i just have uploaded the first rough version
of my GUIDE to install PegXLin/MOL with eth0/dhcp internet support.

It's very ugly, i first started with Mozilla Composer, but that didn't look good on Amiga browsers, so i grabbed the text and made a html from that again, and now all the tabs/spaces etc are wrong.

But i hope it will help some of you.

There will be tons of spelling errors and little mistakes,
i hope to make it more perfect in the near future ;-)

Check it out at the Attention site, under the news section,
sorry for the terrible slow connection.

Yes, I went to your site and looked under "News", but
a link isn't appearing to your guide anywhere? Maybe it
will take awhile before the updated page becomes
available here? (dns updating or something...)

We already asked for a faster connection,
but our provider, not the provider, but
the person that provides us with this
http space, hasn't helped us yet.

So AGAIN, SORRY IT's MOSTER SLOW!!!
Please wait, it is slow when ONE person
try's to get a page, but it's DAMN slow
when multiple people try to get the page.

i just put another 128 MB to my system, but
linux fails to even start now, while
morphos has no problem, as you can see,
because i'm reply'ing this at this moment
with 256 MB in the machine ..

Ill keep you posted on the progress.

Let us know how Panther goes. BTW did you see the other forum post about how to downgrade to .68 of MOL? Can you tell us how to do this?

very very nice guide Felix. Thank you for this.

Now, I'm on the same state like you. Pegxlin, and MOL with MACOS9 working fine with internet connection.

That which we need now is a guide like yours with a" how to install MOL 0.9.68". This MOL version seems to be the only one working fine for MACosX.

As is said before, i'm not into OSX i havent installed it yet, i'm here with my best buddy,
and at this moment, where installing OSX panther,
with MOL 0.9.69, we haven't got enough memory,
well we have, but linux doesn't startup with all
the memory fitted in the pegasos :((((

DOES ANYBODY KNOW HOW TO TURN ON VIRTUAL MEMORY IN LINUX ??????? PLEASE ;)

    BTW:

We CAN say, the installer disk (MacOSX Panther) does bootup, and seems to work correctly.

Can you believe that you need 128MB ram and 3.5GB HD Space to ONLY RUN the OS itself, and have nothing extra, THIS is insain !!!!!!!

    MORPHOS POWER!! Hehehehe ;-))

THANKX FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT PPL!!!
You're the best, and Attention does the rest!

    Great!

Its weird that Linux isnt boot with the extra Ram. My peg has 2 128mb ECC reg ram chips and boots lInux fine. Use ECC reg to be sure. So its GREAT NEWS that panther CD loads! This means it should work! My setup with .69 wont even let me boot the OSX (jaguar) cd.. whatis your macosx config file for MOL? Can you post it here plz? Also are you using a seperate HD or a partition for the Mac drive?

What setup is Linux? The one from your guide? i.e. PegXlin with Sven's latest kernals and .deb pkgs?

Well the latest update is, that panther says
we haven't got enough memory to continu, and
we say go further, and then it scans for devices
to install macosx on, and it doesn't find any.

While we have setup to start OSX with a 18GB boot
HD, but he doesn't list our HD in the installation process. :(((

Then i thought to boot normal OS9 with the OSX
panther install disk as additional device, in
this case out normal OS9 macos fully boots and
we get a panther install icon with a installer
icon, as soon as we click the icon, it states
it has to reboot to install OSX, as you might
know, we can't reboot macos, because it quits
    in this case.

So we have a little problem here...
We must say, the OSX windows look very nice,
    nice memu's also :)))

    Hi, all!

    MOL0.69 runs good with a voodoo3 3000 here
(both MacOS9.2 and X). Only radeon makes trouble...
With 0.69 you can use USB under Classic and
burn under X.... (with .68 not!)
Virtual memory under linux is your swap-partition
, and you can use this with mol, too ;)
(I gave my maccies 384 MB RAM, and only have 256MB
    real mem)
OSX is damn slow here, not a pleasure to use with
    G3 -> probably will rock on Peg2 (?)
but I anyway take the classic to be the better os...
There's a way to configure the mouse to be usable
in fullscreenmode, but I never got ito it...
Easier solution: use a USB mouse and it'll work....

Sorry Frostwork, but at home, MOL 0.9.69 doesn't work with my voodoo3 2000 AGP.

Is your card a PCI one? Maybe it's an AGP problem and not a radeon problem.

Unfortunatly, I dont have a PCI card to test :-(
