Aren't those cards 3D-supported on Linux? And why no X19x0?

    R3xx to R9xx is 2D-only in OS4.

Technically they are, but OpenGL 2.x only which for Linux terms means there are not many apps which will profit from 3D acceleration. Also with current Xorg Server the desktop won't use 'GLAMOR' (3D hardware) acceleration either per default but 'EXA' which is less capable. You can force GLAMOR via an user generated /etc/xorg.conf, which seems to work fine on R500 cards, but the user needs to be able to generate such an xorg.conf. ;-)

X19x0 is R500 and would work as such but it's big (and loud) so it will probably give you a hard time crammig it into an X5000 next to a dual slot RX 470.

Bigger problem on Linux howerver is that current mesa versions (24.2.0 and above) won't work on Big Endian hardware at all due to issue #11933.

    Sounds plausible, thanks.

My comment #2 has links to solutions to that:
    - using the 3rd, 4th or 5th PCIe slot (x1) with an x16-to-x1 adapter
    - using the 2nd PCIe slot (x4) with an x16-to-x4 cable

Both X1900 and X1950 have been reported to fit.

    Pity.
