No built-in text editor? I'm pretty sure it's sitting in C: since 1,4 (AKA the 'free' version).
Pegasos 2 faster than Power Mac G5? Bullsh*t, as proven multiple times in this thread already.
Old Warp3D games not working? Bullsh*t, all it takes is to copy some libs and set prefs correctly.
Voyager faster than Wayfarer? Fine. You can use Voyager (even the native MorphOS version) all the way (or AWeb, or even AMosaic if you really want to).
Frequent freezes when doing nothing or using software provided with system? The problem most probably sits between the monitor and a chair of the user.

Just go, buy yourself an A600 and play Wipeout 2097 watching YouTube videos on Voyager. Viszontlátásra!

    You're confusing things!
I didn't say I wanted to play Vipeout on an Amiga 600 or anything!
I just showed a video where it's clear that voyager is faster even on an old Amiga 600 than vayfarer on a much more powerful G5

It's a shame to argue about this, because there is more evidence didn't make up, which can be seen in videos shared by many Amiga users.
How interesting that at the beginning it was said that you can't get Vipeout2097 to work on MorphOS because the G5 Mac is not capable of doing so.
Now suddenly everything works, even Vipeout
    I'll close with this
Be happy with the perfect MorphOS
    I'll stay with AmigaOS
everyone uses what brings them joy and little anxiety
I've received a lot of help here, which I appreciate
and I'm not saying this out of spite, but I'm really annoyed by MorphOS and I don't think I'll spend any money on this system.
Thank you everyone for all your help !

I've already given you a hint, so you can download the Easy2Install package manager and install individual things you need.
    https://www.morphos-storage.net/?id=2349102

Or you can just go for the complete Chrysalis package — it includes pretty much everything you might need. Most of it is pre-configured and ready to use. You simply install it on top of MorphOS. That might make things easier and more exciting for you.
I would recommend the Chrysalis Pack. Then you can reassess things afterward.
    https://www.morphos-storage.net/upload/chrysalis/Chrysalis.iso

One more thing: if you're only looking to play old games, then you might as well just get the A500 Mini — it's plug & play and doesn’t require any prior knowledge. Anything involving real Amigas or NG (Next Generation) Amigas requires a willingness to dive in and learn. Complaining or saying how bad everything is won't help — in that case, you're in the wrong place.
People here have tried to help you from start to finish, but some effort is still needed on your part and what this has to do with Windows or WinUAE is beyond me — even the old games can be made to run. You just have to take the time to deal with it.

Download the Chrysalis Pack, install it on MorphOS, and then reassess the system with a fresh perspective.

Thanks for the help, but I don't plan on using MorphOS in the future.
Someday I'll put together a Real Amiga with an accelerator card and then I'll be able to play old and new games without any problems.

C:Ed is not CygnusEd. The latter is 3rd-party program.

...and also in MorphOS, as you were told in comments #203 and #204.

    > about the Pegasos2, everything worked better with it and
    > I didn't have to do any tricks

That's because you didn't use a Radeon R3xx-based graphics card in it. Those who did faced the same obstacle with old Warp3D games, and even more so, as Wazp3D got its TinyGL renderer only in 2014, which prior to this meant no Warp3D at all or ugly/slow software rendering at best.

    > the official MorphOS computer is the Pegasos so I shouldn't be surprised by that

I'm not sure this "official" status of the Pegasos II is worth much today after 20 years, especially as MorphOS' Warp3D support has always been just a legacy thing, also on the Pegasos II, as is illustrated by the very fact that this support was not extended above Radeon R2xx with the deprecation of Rave3D in MorphOS 3.0, so the Radeon R3xx driver of MorphOS 3.2 never used it. This applies to all MorphOS-compatible hardware, including the Pegasos II.

To me, this sounds more like hardware problems (overheating, faulty RAM etc.). Especially with overheating (dried-up thermal paste), I guess that Mac OS X is more likely to compensate for this by downclocking due to its more sophisticated thermal management.

Who exactly said this was impossible on a G5 Mac? Care to share any links to such statements?
Wipeout 2097 running with Wazp3D in TinyGL rendering mode has been known since 2014 when the TinyGL rendering mode was added to Wazp3D. In fact, Wipeout 2097 was the very game that this mode was presented with (#65) back then. G4 or G5 Mac doesn't matter in this regard.
Regarding Shogo, I said in comment #164 that it may work with Wazp3D but that so far I had not come across anyone reporting success (which doesn't mean much). Luckily, koszer tried and managed to succeed (and I doubt he was the first one at that). Also this has nothing to do with G4 or G5 Mac.
Isn't it nice that those old WarpOS/Warp3D games indeed do work with MorphOS on a G5 Mac?

As far as I understand, he is mostly referring to WarpOS programs, so running them on MorphOS could be considered "native" as no CPU emulation is involved, while running them on an old Amiga would require PowerUP hardware or PCI hardware like Sonnet Crescendo 7200 and KillerNIC or (with carrier board) PowerPMC-250 and PrPMC8xx.

A JavaScript JIT is sorely missing, yes. But even with that, the hardware wouldn't be nearly what many websites are expecting today for a smooth experience.

    > it was a free system (MOS1.4) [...] But it's been over 10 years since then!

Ha! MorphOS 1.4.5 for the Pegasos, which was the last of the 1.x releases, was released 20 years ago TO THE DAY! :-D

    > the browser on my Amiga at the time (os3.9) was faster!

You know quite well why this was the case, don't you? The web has developed massively since those days of mainly static HTML pages, and even back then, Amiga browsers tended to ignore most then-modern features and it was up to the site design whether it was usable for Amiga browsers nonetheless.

    > The MorphOS team needs to [...] spend more time on development because
    > then very few people will think in the future that they want to run it

So the MorphOS team better doesn't... ;-)

When have you last tried a web browser on Linux on your G4 or G5 Mac?

    > I think voyager is still faster than wayfarer to this day.

No wonder, as Voyager will simply show nothing at all or ignore most of the content and show the rest garbled beyond recognition if fed with the modern web.

    > What speed can it achieve on an Amigax5000 machine

It will probably display your static HTML page of choice even before you finsh typing it into the address bar. Or what dou you mean "speed"? Download speed?

    > which is much faster than the most powerful G5 Mac?

Erm, no. Regarding CPU performance, the X5000 is faster than an equally clocked G5 Mac only in pure integer performance (about 25%, so the 2.2 GHz X5000 roughly equals the 2.7 GHz G5 Mac), but loses in floating point performance and memory bandwidth (and SIMD, obviously).

    @Krisz

The beauty of MorphOS is the stability and the native productivity applications.

No other Amigalike platform is as good. Real Amiga hardware is fun to tinker with, but the software and OS don't really do that much really. If you want to play games and not use it much beyond that, works fine.

So if you use Iris, Wayfarer, PolyOrga, PageStream, and the other native stuff like VPDF etc. It is a dream really. I use my PowerMac with MorphOS every day for work all day over the last 5 years and it is really good. I never have crashes or have weird behavior, or if I do it can be counted on one hand on a 2 fingered person.

The features and user experience is quite good. You do have to put the time in to set it up and learn the OS.

For me it was worth setting up the hardware and learning the OS.

The other big benefit is an active development team and community that literally released 100's of updates with the OS and applications and are available to add features. A task and effort worth noting.

Sorry you haven't had a great experience. If there is anything I can do to help, PM me. There are a good amount of YT videos by different folks using the OS also you may wish to check out.

    Good luck!
