At least the Sam460 firmware is not OS4-specific.

...request a refund for OS4 and buy MorphOS instead :-)

Thanks. If you can install MorphOS to a hard disk using your Radeon HD 5450, then I can send you an updated Radeon file that will work with your Radeon X1650.

I'll PM you my email address, then you can email me if you're interested.

Morphos is already installed (it only boots with the 5450 though). I will answer your PM immediately.

Mark is dealing with it, and I'll stop stirring up further dissent between camps.
After all, its what they always accuse us of, and in the long run it won't make us any friends.

Got a new monitor file from bigfoot. Now I can boot the sam with the x1650. System runs smooth, but sadly sound is missing.

    Very Cool.
A bounty for a better Envy24HT driver might be useful for your second problem.
And I would be willing to donate PCI and PCI-e cards for that.

Yes, probably should have been posted under the first thread.
Thanks for the later two posts.
I am not even sure the ZEnvy24HT is the best chip to focus on as it is out of production.
But, if the SAMN460CR users are using these, well it would be a good excuse to get that straightened out for all platforms.

My intention posting this link was to show that pega-1 already explained that it was not just about the audio driver itself but also about the currently incomplete support for the PCIe x1 slot.

Hmm, I am not sure anymore if the soundcard, sold by acube, is really an envy24ht. I had a closer look at some pictures and it looks like it is the cheaper tremor chipset. Envy24ht is VT1724, Tremor is VT1723.
I dont know if the drivers are compatible in between these two chipsets.

Maybe they should support a much more common soundcard with a real PCIe interface.

Btw: I would support a bounty for a new sound driver. But lets think smart about for which soundcard it could be...

    Interesting issues.
Well, I guess I will stash or sell the Envy24HT card.
According to past statements I have posted (not going to reference them here), VIA is discontinuing all PCI audio controllers anyway, so Envy and Tremor are dead ends.

Lets see what happens. I bought myself a new Morphos licence for the sam and sent my "soundcard question" to the support team.
Maybe a bounty for them can help. Or maybe they're already having plans :)

The statements linked to in posting #19 sound like a plan to me :-)

Well...a plan to address it later, yeah.

Radeon HD 2D and 3D support? Probably later.

PCIe X1 support for the SAM460CR, later.

    I do get it.

And you could add either a sound card or an SATA controller to the PCI-e slot, so if an SATA card was implemented, the PCI slot could be used with an SB Live.

Although the simplest solution (once PCI-e X1 support is sorted out)would be to just support the hardware Acube would ship with a CR based system (the HD4650 video card, SiliconImage SATA card, and Tremor based PCI-e X1 sound card).

Again, its just a matter of patience.

    They say it's HD5450.

They say it's VT1724 "Envy24HT". But as metatron said, the picture clearly shows "VT1723 Tremor" written on the chip. Could be a case of false advertising.

Yes, its not as nice as the Envy, but then does OS4 support more than two channel sound anyway?

The HD5450 doesn't sound like much of an upgrade.
Maybe its just getting harder to find the 4650s.

OS4 uses AHI so most likely not. Still this doesn't warrant selling a VT1723-based card as a VT1724-based one. But maybe it's really a VT1724 card and it's just the picture that has been poorly chosen.

    > The HD5450 doesn't sound like much of an upgrade.

Performance-wise it should be a downgrade even.

    > Maybe its just getting harder to find the 4650s.

Yes, and Warp3D has been announced for HD5xxx but not for HD4xxx.
