    Hello,

Ran into an issue today. Tried to boot up MorphOS 3.1 to install on my other MDD, but it would hang at the very first screen where it lists the CPUs. One time I got lucky and it actually booted into the installation when I would reset the PMU, but anytime after that it just failed and would never boot up again.

The CPU revision for that was 0x303 when I seen the screen. It was a Dual 1.25GHz 7455A card.

I swapped out the card for another Dual 1.25GHz 7455A, and this time it booted up without a problem, and MorphOS got installed great (Typing from it now)

When the CD was booted, it listed this CPU board as revision 0x302. I was wondering if there was an issue with the other CPU board I have or if I was having terrible luck booting? Mac OS X install CD worked for that other CPU card, but MorphOS would just hang at the first screen.

Either way, just wanted to put in my 2 cents. 8-)

    Update:
Turns out it may of been this DVD drive that is currently installed. Its a newer Pioneer DVD drive from 2008. Right now MorphOS doesn't even recognize it and fails to even open up when you use the eject button on the top-right of the screen of MorphOS. Will swap out the drive and give it another go with the other revision of the CPU and see if that may resolve it.

    Final Conclusion:

I missed that I didn't have a jumper set on the Pioneer drive (DOH!), but I did install back the 0x302 revision CPU, and it only hiccuped once where it didn't boot off the CD, but now it will boot the CD fully... Strange behavior, but I suppose if anyone has these issues, give it a reboot and be sure the CD drive's jumper is in.

When I started with my Powermac I also bought the most recent IDE DVDwriter I could find for a good price ... this was a Samsung. More or less the same issue ... just didn't want to work with MorphOS or the powermac. Swapped it for another slighlty older one and no problems anymore.

Maybe drives have to be configured to CableSelect mode to work ?

I didn't change the optical disc drive in my MDD/FW800 PMac so far but it's probably related to that .....
