    Hello,

As I was locked to reply to amigadave in my previous thread, that's what I do now because even criminal has rights to defend. I encountered the post I was referring to and most of you were right:

Some MorphOS-Team member said WLAN is rather unlikely. The driver itself may be bearable, but the secure layer is another story. WPA2 will probably not happen and WLAN w/o WPA2 is rather useless. If youu want to have no long cable inside the house you may add a WLAN router / AP beside the mini and connect both with a short cable. This may not be the dream-solution, but a fairly-okay soulution.

So you guys were right. But still, dunno wheather I'm quoting a MOS system developer or some other guy. And unlike what golem adviced me to do once, I WON'T "try for a while" to figure it out. I think this whole story at https://morph.zone/modules/newbb_plus/viewtopic.php?topic_id=6469&forum=11 is just a typical and unwanted (by myself either) consequence of my unanswered plea on that time. I consider the topic closed and hereby won't answer any issues on it.

And now the specs - according to what I've managed to read here for last half a year (hope I won't be accused for FUDs anymore, feel kindda paranoid while writing this)... but anyway to the point:

    Connectivity
    - Analog modem* - won't be supported, little usability reasons
    - WiFi - might be supported but NOT in initial release, WPA layer extra work as major reason
    - Ethernet - supported
    - Bluetooth - unsupported
    - 2 x USB - supported
    - FireWire - unsupported

    Also
    - graphics - supported, all specs
    - Combo/Superdrive* - supported
    - Audio - supported
    - Video - supported

    Others
    - Wifi access can be bridged e.g. using EDIMAX EW-7206AP (price ~25 Eur, tested with Peg2)

Hardware marked with (*) varies depending on the model.

This thread is meant to SUMMARIZE facts, not to discuss options anymore.

If something's wrong, feel free to fix it in and copy-paste. If you want to hit me, PM me and I'll tell you where I live.
Was: Mac Mini PPC running MorphOS 2.4
Now: Amiga Forever 2010 with AmiKit and AmigaSYS
Not used: Icaros Desktop 1.2 (reason: no wifi)
    Planned soon: an OS4 system
Shortly then: a MOS notebook (wifi is a must-have)

    Good summary AFAIK.

Firewire will have support with third party software. Yomgui had done some (lot?) work on this subject. The stack is named Helios and available at alpha state currently and under major rewrite.

WPA is not the major reason there is no WiFi support. There simply is no driver in the initial release and noone has been working on one that would at least support unsecured connections.
