    Hi!

So, I had 1gb of kingston RAM installed and bought a second dimm, exactly the same as the first one. The problem is I get random disk errors with both dimms installed. I tried PNY and Jetram dimms as well and the problem is the same: when both dimms are on I get random hd errors. I'm on morphos 2.2, OF 1.2, G4@1ghz and my disks are 1xWD 120gb and 1xMaxtor 160GB. DVDs are nec dvdrw and lg dvd-rom. I was wondering if by lowering the DMA mode I'd make it work, but truthfully I have no idea how to do that in openfirmware or morphos or, for that matter, if it can be done at all. While at it, has anyone else successfully installed 2gb of RAM (even if mos can only see 1,5 of them) and if so, what type/brand etc.

    Thanks all!

That answers much, thx! Still , is there a way to lower the dma value in openfirmware or from within morphos? As all memtests I've run have returned no error, I still think that if it's possible to lower the dma mode it might work ok without any disk errors, cuz that's the only problem I have. Again thx, I'd (most likely) never had found that thread without you pointing it out!

If cou really want to fiddle around about that, why don't you look into HDToolbox at the Maxtransfer-Values.

Thanks for the suggestion. I already did that and I got a stable system , but also unbearably sloooow. I took a couple off of "ff"'s from the max and everything seemed like running on blizzardppc instead of peg2. No errors though. So, lowering the actual udma mode might be the best solution. That's, if it can actually be done of course.
