I'm thinking of mounting my Efika in a Mini ITX Case. I think I found a local supplier. Here's the case:

    Nice Case

I'll need some plastic standoffs. Looks easy enough to make a back plate for it, just need a strip of aluminum. I wonder if I can stash a IDE cdrom up top with an IDE -> USB adaptor, and maybe a USB hub inside...:)

What do you guys think? All in all I think I will come out ahead, rather than buying the Genesi case...

Ummm... Unnecesarily big, in my opinion. It provices space for peripherals you can't connect easily to the Efika.

People have put the Efika inside much smaller cases (external CD-ROM enclosures), albeit with some work. Notable case is Geit's, but there's a lot more, including using the same cardboard box the Efika ships in.

...but the Genesi case is very nice, and tailor made for the Efika. Are you sure that ITX case you refer is cheaper than Genesi's?

Cheapest I can find the Genesi case is $99.Mini ITX case is $43. I know the Mini ITX Case is bigger, but I will be able to enclose my CD-R Drive inside.

This may sound crazy to some but I actually mounted my Efika inside an old Amiga 2500HD case.

The original motherboard was completely desacrated by battery leakage but the case is in near perfect condition. Everything regarding Efika install was done without alterning original case.

It now houses modern full sized ATX power supply, the Efika actually sits on top of the floppy drive tray, a USB hub sits right behind front panel, and I use full sized CD/DVD drive in original bay position.

The entire bottom area of the case is empty! Talk about a huge case for a little machine! A far cry from my upgraded A3000 which utilizes its original case and is completely jammed full of stuff.

If using the Efika in old Amiga case does anything, it reminds me of Morph's Amiga roots. I am hoping to fill the lower case with a Natami dev board should it get released, otherwise I can put some other board down there (mac mini, whatever....)
