    Hello. As stated in other post I am building up Efika. I received Efika yesterday and was intrigued by its small size.

    Anyway, the video card I have is ATI Radeon 9200LE (mac version). I am confused by the slot configuration of this card. It cant be AGP because it physically does not fit in Efika AGP. Efika looks like standard slot with 3.3V key layout. The 9200LE (mac) looks like a multi-voltage capable PCI card and obviously no good to me. I suppose it would plug right into PCI slot without riser in there but am not sure. Besides, I like low profile approach with the right card.

    So, I am looking to buy a proper card for Efika and need recommendations. I have seen 9200 AGP cards on Amazon. Is it that simple? Just get low profile 128MB AGP unit and be done with it?

    Other question. What is best CDRW solution for Ekika. Do I get external unit and simply plug into USB? OR get USBtoATA cable and use standard 5.25" device?

    Thanks!!!

    why don't you test your card first in that pci-slot ( yes you can do that safely, just make sure you put it in in the right direction )

    When it works, just buy a 90 degree PCI to PCI riser.

    I didn't think of that.

    Directionality of the card a good point as it will go in either way. I am assuming that the port side of the video card will be on same side as Efika ports.

    ...and if he accidentaly puts it the wrong direction he will fry his Efika... :)

    @ Rodomoc: I would go for HIS or ASUS - this Gigabyte has only 64 MB RAM and believe me, you want to have 128 (I only have a 9200 SE with 64 MB and for example FuhQuake GL won't start). You will have to dismount the backplate too (or else it will collide with USB/Ethernet port of your Efika).

    128MB VRAM card will not help you. Here is a part of my unfinished QW guide:

    Kilka rad dla uzytkownikow komputerow z 128MB RAM
    1. Uzywac layerow 2D, trybu 16bit oraz ustawic rds 1
    2. W katalogu fuhquake rozpakowac z pak0.pak (do tego samego katalogu) plik
    textures/particles/particlefont.png, po czym pozbyc sie pliku fuhquake/pak0.pak.
    3. W konfiguracji ustawic zmienne:
    gl_texture_mode GL_NEAREST
    gl_max_size 1
    gl_miptexlevel 3

    P.S: Sorry for my lazyness, translate yourself :) (from polish). You can try to alter/lower some settings too.

    I have no problem with translating, but what language do they speak on the planet of the monsters?

    @Koszer

    128Mb on your graphics card isn't going to help you... quake should even do it's thing with 16Mb I think. I actually thought about downgrading to slower radeon with 64MB ... I really doubt the Efika is fast enough to use a 9200 with 128Mb to it's full potential.

    It's the Efika's RAM that isn't enough to run FuhQuake without altering certain settings in MorphOS to save some memory.

    @rodomoc

    right direction is indeed towards the Efika's ports. You will not fry anything and you already can start playing... if there are no problems because it's a card with a macrom that is.

    This is all good advice for video. Thank you everybody. I have opted to return the Radeon mac card back to the mac system and get a new card. I opted for the HIS and will be taking the back plane off of it.

    I still am looking for best CD/DVD method. I have purchased simple USB to ATA adapter and will try using a full sized drive. I have an extra drive I do not use in my A3000 that is still brand new.

    Thanks again!
