    Hello

    Is it possible to use a USB wireless NIC under MOS 2.0 on an EFIKA?

    TIA

    From what I can tell, not out of the box. There could be some third party development or even something on Posieden's website. There could also be something for some future update. Though it could just be the wifi adapter I was trying to test.

    Once you get into wifi adapters, you also have to deal with security too. That might be a rub on getting a driver to working... The easiest way to set this up is to use a "Wireless Tap," and the cheapest that I've found is to get something for a game-system that outputs to ethernet. (Kind of like Belkin's XBox Wireless Tap).

    Thanks for the reply. I have considered using a wireless bridge, but hopefully drivers and supporting software will appear in a future update.

    Cheers

    Well, no surprise, I couldn't get it to work. I tried it at a college library, with wi-fi. Not sure if it just picks up a signal and goes...there were two, secure and unsecure. I tried putting in the ip, and gateway of the unsecure, (this i assume from a laptop display of the connection)into network prefs. but it didn't go online, pretty obvious with no green connection on efika, but i itried sputnik to make sure. Any Ideas?

    Best solution i have found is to use a router as wireless client, then you just plug efika/pegasos/whatever device with a nic to it and have instant wireless without degrading security to wep or such. I use several linksys WRT55GL with DD-WRT firmware as clients on pegasos and two xboxes, works like a charm :-) The advantage over stock wireless bridges is the router have 4 port switch so you can connect 4 devices and the dd-wrt firmware are well developed and advanced, you scan for wireless networks from the web interface and connects, firmware reconfigures itself and you just enter the password.

    Or the openwrt firmware, which runs on more boxes,
    and can be used as a samba-> nfs wrapper.

    @catohagen

    I found this http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=628108&CatId=0

    not sure if it would work, or if this is the most simple solution. how would this router work, keeping in mind I'm trying to connect off wi-fi connections in the area. what makes this different than the bridge in this link

    anyway, what nic on efika?
