Ati Radeon 9800 it is the last AGP 8x graphic card available on the market.

I read it is possible to power this graphic card, directly from power supply.

Could this fact allow a possible porting of it on Pegasos 2?

Or perhaps it is just impossible due to the fact that AGP 8x has NO PIN COMPATIBILITY with ancient AGP 2x compatible Pegasos slot?

Well, when I heard it is possible to power this 9800 just from power supply I started wonder if it is just a matter to power it from outside and live happy with it on the Pegasos board, or there is also problem of pin compatibility, or even if it is a matter of PHISICALLY INSERT it in the slot of Pegasos...? :-?

Any good-heart hardware guru who could answer me please?

Forgot to mention that ATI 9800 should be AGP Universal...

So it should (at least) be machanically (i.e.) phisically compatible with our slot.

And here is another important entry:

The first AGP Radeon X1950 PRO from PowerColor.

It is based on GPU RV570.

However cooling fan of this little beast it is too high for Pegasos!

    Here is an italian review:

(Check Google for you local, or online computer newspapers reviewing this card.)

    I think you're confused...

But what would be the point?

    Yep, you're definitely confused. ;)

The 9800 fits just fine both physically and electrically, in short; it just works.

The AGP speed has nothing to do with the AGP slot version, I suggest you read up on the Accelerated Graphics Port...

    Ahhh... Wonderful!

So Perhaps with good drivers it will be possible to see ATI 9600, 9800 and maybe this new X1950 on Pegasos?

Regarding the remaining part of the message.

I am talking "last" not as the "latest", and however 9800 it is pretty recent...

Well, I believed that 3,3 volt was not compatible pin to pin with 1,5 and 0.8 to avoid burnings.

    Thanks for the info.

No, as mentioned in another thread we have yet to have found any 9600s that work, as for the X1950 I simply don't know, though I doubt it works...

If a card is not electrically compatible it should not physically fit (except for some badly designed cards like certain 9600s)...
