DVI support in MorphOS?

I am wondering about if there is any of the ATI Radeon cards that MorphOS supports which includes a DVI output connector?

I am asking about this, as it would be very interesting seeing MorphOS on a Apple or Dell etc Cinema 20, 23, 30 widescreen monitors. Especially drawing in TvPaint, having such big drawscreen would be superb!

Could someone tell me if MorphOS support it, or does MorphOS support it directly as DVI dosent really need external drivers?

    Regards,
    Michal

I am thinking of buying a Apple Cinema 20", 23" or 30" :) I am not sure which one yet. Dell ones are cheaper, but then its the design ;p Maybe I just dont like Dell because of their bad adverts on National Geographic Channel ;P Well, nice to know that MorphOS supports it.

Will a screenmode like 1680 x 1050 work fine etc?

Apple Cinema Display screens are overrated in my opinion. The design is nice but the specs are under today's standards for a higher price. I'd go for Dell.

    edit : typos

I have a Dell 2005 FPW currently driven over DVI in 1680 x 1050 @60Hz no problems with that. But i think you can not go much higher in Resolution because of the Driver or something. So you could have Problems with a 23/24' as far as i know eg. 1920 x 1200 is not possible.

    Bye

Well, a little bit offtopic: I've tried out - just for fun - one old Amiga thingy on my Peg: the Autoscroll feature. I can tell you, that it doesn't work for me. :( If I set up bigger than 1600x1200 screen, strange effects come up (Pointer goes out in the right corner and comes in in the left, background is corrupted, etc.). :(

    Try MOSSYS:Devs/Monitors/Radeon file's DVI_ENABLE=YES tooltype.

I'm using a Sapphire Tech Radeon 9000 AGP and DVI is working for me also (without modification to MOS) although I have to admit I am using the standard VGA output instead-- the reason being that the DVI doesn't look quite right. It almost has a look that seems to be "too digital". I don't recall exactly if MOS showed signs of this, but I definitely recall it manifesting itself in OS X (through MOL) as well as Gentoo Live and Ubuntu. The best way to describe it is a pixelated appearance in graphics/gradients. Almost as if you swtiched from 32bit color to 16bit color.

I am looking to get a hold of a true ATI branded Radeon 9000 to see if it just my card doing it.

If you want to use DVI, don't forget to buy a good DVI cable. It's 50% of the quality, or more !

    Hello guys,

@Yashin71, there exists 5 kind of dvi to vga adaptors. On the french forum of AmigaImpact you can see on this topic www.amigaimpact.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=3221&forum=1 that someone gave a link www.tomshardware.fr/qualite-des-connexions-dvi-nvidia-et-ati-assurent-ils-article-3d-820-8.html about the different kind of adaptors. Maybe does there exist a similar article in english, try with google or other to find them.

I received my ATI-branded Radeon 9000pro 128M today and the DVI does look much better. Guess the Sapphire didn't do so well in this area.

Now I just got to get a quieter fan. :)
