As my 3.5" maxtor hdd seems to die slowly (it only works when being upside down, seems to be some loose contact..) I am heading for a new hdd. Since my current hdd is the loudest compount of my Peg (well, the g3 is noiseless, so is the gfx, but only the psu has some low noise fans) I was wondering if there is experience with 2.5" hdds.
Are they significantly more silent? Will the slower speed be a major penalty? Anyone thinks it is a good idea to go for a 2.5" or is it just silly. I don't need huge capacities, a 60GB drive is just enough for me.

I dont think 2.5" HDD make sense. Seagate Barracuda IV series are very good and quiet. I haave one and when I had my good old Peg1 it was perfect match. With low noise PSU fan it was almost impossible to know was the machine on or off.
    1 + 1 = 3 with very large values of 1
