On 9 Jan 06, The Peg2 design goes up on Power.org. This means a another company can build the Pegasos2.
MorphOS has been free to Pegasos owners. How would someone with a Pegasos clone get MorphOS? Would MorphOS-Team release the OS to clone owners? Or would it only be available for Genesi Pegasos owners? Will MorphOS-Team sell MorphOS, and updates are no longer free? If the Pegasos clones hit the masses, wouldn`t this motivate Morph-Team and development? Will donations still go to Morph-Team even if it is from clones sales? Anyone have any answers or heard anything from Morph-Team about this? I`m no trying to go into what`s said at other sites, but what about MorphOS?

Donations to MorphOS Team don't happen. The scheme we have chosen is to pay into the bounty scheme whenever a MorphOS-branded and installed Open Desktop Workstation is sold.

You can buy one via this link:

    http://www.pegasosppc.com/specialodw.php?partner=morphos

And $50 will get put in the General bounty fund, as it says. We have so far had ONE order.

MorphOS should be available for all purchasers of the Pegasos II from Genesi or resellers that buy from Genesi (including bplan), at least.

As for the rest of the "clones", if and when they appear, this will be up to Ralph - I dare say he is waiting for them to appear though. While MorphOS should be readily available to run on EFIKA, it's still not been decided if you will be able to get this sometime soon, nor do we have a 100% firm date on when we can sell EFIKA boards individually for this purpose anyway.

So. I guess the real answer is, please be patient while it's worked out :)

This just brings to my mind the thing with the Sega Dreamcast. After Sega stopped selling them, another company begin maiking the Treamcast. Almost the same but with a screen attached. I thiink it is possible the Pegasos2 design gets used. It would bring the System to more people. I even read where some Atari guys want to port FreeMint to the Pegasos, to continue where Milan stopped.

    OT:
Regarding the Treamcast, this was no offical clone, but a "pirated" one (iirc original Dreamcast Boards where used) and Sega had something against that "clones"
However, rumours are there that the Dreamcast will have a "Comeback" but only in Japan and bundled with a Sega Game.

Yeah I remember something about a year or so ago. Sega made a limited supply of black Dreamcast for Japan only.

    Yep it`s the 9th haven`t looked at power.org yet.
