    Hi,

I'm currently using Miami on the Peg to get the network going. On my Amiga 4k, Amitcp is my favourite ..
Is there any alternative to Miami still alive, which works well on Peg ?
    What happened to Amitcp ?

    bye

When you don't need DHCP or PPPOE then try Genesis afaik Genesis is a Frontend for Amitcp, it is much faster then Miami or MiamiDX, with the latest MOS 1.4.5 i get up to 7MB/sec. in the network :-)

    Details?

I assume it was just a case of installing Classact2demo and the classact33 files, alongide a few classes and libraries off your os3.9 cd?

Well I downloaded the Genesis demo off Aminet, then took the key out
of the genesis archive on my OS 3.9 CD. Its MUI if you get the demo
    off aminet.

BUT after doing some testing I find I like MiamiDX a lot better. The
spped inst that much more in Genesis to tell you the truth after I did
a lot of large file transfers. The ease of use in setting up DHCP is
worth it to me over the small speed boost of just a few k a sec.

Does it need AmiTCP? If yes, where get it from, if no, how did you set up?

I don't want to derail your thread but I have a question along the lines of yours. As someone new to both MorphOS and Amiga type systems where might I get legitimate copies of any of these stacks? Will I have to get a copy of an older version of AmigaOS?

    Thanks.

GENESiS is shareware based upon AmiTCP4. You can get a keyfile in the AmigaOS 3.9 and Amithlon/AmigaXL cdrom. You can download a shareware copy with Mui gui on Aminet.

Miami/MiamiDX are on Aminet but there is no way to get a registration Keyfile by the author. Get it on aminet.

At least there is AmiTCP 3.x that is under GPL but no more developed, you can get a copy on aminet.

A new stack will be released with MorphOS 1.5. Will be based on AmiTCP and seems to be really fast.

PS. forget to use DHCP until you use the TCP Stack from MOS 1.5 :(

Download the demo, then run the installer or just extract it to a folder and run it from there as it is. Simple as that. Setting it up was a pain in the ass. I had to figure out all the routing myself since it doesnt support DHCP, but I got it after about an hour of attempting it. The key is genesiskey.library I thik and I just put that in my sys:libs dir.
