From the Freescale Semiconductor Update news letter:

"Freescale Semiconductor strengthened its leadership position in the growing embedded processor market in 2004, according to a recent report from Gartner Dataquest. Freescale seized the No. 1 position with 28.2 percent market share driven by growth in its 32-bit PowerQUICC™ and ColdFireTM processor families.

According to the article, Freescale is the world leader in Automotive Microcontrollers, which IMHO could make things *really* interesting if only MorphOS would become as embraced by Freescale as the Pegasos is (see "MorphOS on MobileGT", and "MorphOS in Freescale Nagoya test center?" posts from BBRV).

The Freescale Website now also features links to special websites for China (where Freescale have a PPC center which also involves the Pegasos) and Japan (where Freescale have its Automotive center which *could* perhaps involve MorphOS).

Speaking of that; BBRV (if you are reading this), what is happening on the fronts in China and Japan? Any news yet that might interest the Pegasos and/or MorphOS community?
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)
MorphOS NG will be AROS done right! :-)

This is great news! So, why doesn't every car with a PowerQuic CPU
have as the required diagnostic tool, a mobileGT based scan tool
running MorphOS? Years ago I tried to get people together to do an
Amiga based automotive scan tool interface and tracking utility, but
no one seemed to want to get serious. Boat. Being missed.

Now there is the 'MegaSquirt' homebrew EFI conversion unit, sadly the
controller software is only available for Windows PeeCees. However
the controller and its software are opensource, so the software could
be ported to MorphOS.. This would be a great inroad into the
automotive field for the low power Pegasos.

A quick google for 'Megasquirt' will get more info :-)

Never heard about that one before, thanks for the info about the squirt. Sounds interesting.
