Intel's heading for cool computing and CE devices. They just introduced a cheap and energy saving solution with passively cooled PentiumM and set up a webpage for developers (http://developer.intel.com/design/celect/index.htm).

On the one hand this is a good indicator that cool and energy saving devices will go more common, on the other hand competition gets closer.

Anyway, *WE* actually do cool computing since 2002!

    Edit: typos

only the Peg1 can be considered as cool computing IMHO

how does the Peg2 go without a fan ?

It's not such a matter of pegI or pegII actually, it's about the CPU
and there are quite some PegIIs with G3 out there.
Anyway I do cool computing with my old PegI

btw.: of course there are some passively cooled devices out there,
starting with Apple's older Cubes but also and most centrino notebooks
aren't really loud and current hungry, but the point was, that now
when even Intel puts this issue more to an focus the market for cool,
quiet and energysaving devices seems to increase.
