Sure, China complies not fully to our western (Europe + the Americas +
Australia) ideas, but well, so doesn't the world.
I know, only because things can be worse doesn't make a bad thing turn
to good, but then... threre is still plenty I critizize in Germany
(where I live) or Europe or the U.S. (to critizize the latter became
recently really hip in the EU and, yes - there is a lot of
truth in it on *one* persective (I often share this perspective, but
I also try to keep a multi persepective view)).
BBRVs Mao sentence is not too bad, beside all ideals one has also
to be a bit opportunistic from time to time. And - regarding China - I
am slightly optimistic, the Taiwan issue is a drawback indeed, but on
the other hand they said to better their juristic system (death
penalties can now be fought - that is a progress, only a slow
progress, but still a progress).
