    Hi all

I was just surfing around looking for a non-M$ OS to stick on a
Celeron box that I got for free from my wife's work (hey, its worth
every penny too!) and was looking at BeOS. It looks like it made it
to 5.03, then became Zeta? Zeta seems to be made by a German company,
I think its the next stage of BeOS. Is it any good? I can get BeOS 5
for $27US, but Zeta is 99 Euro. What does Zeta do that BeOS 5
    doesn't?

Also, BeOS 5 CD says 'PC and Mac' meaning it runs on PowerPC Macs as
well. Is there/will there be a BeOS or Zeta for the Pegasos range?

Back in the day I ran BeOS 4.5 on my PeeCee and it was a great OS.
Booted up in 10 seconds or so, was fast, snappy, easy on the
resources. Very Amiga-like. Is anyone here running it today?

zeta has updated drivers, and a work around for the 512 ram limit and some speed and interface enhancements but thats about it.....as for mac compatible....you cant install it on any macs. jsut ther BeBox......genesi gave them a peg as a development computer a long time ago so we may see a ppc version once they make enough money off there x 86 one.... i would stick with beos 5.0.3 and look up BeOS Max and donwload there latest updates to the older 5.0 reease... :-)

    Hi Tronman!

    :)

BeOS is cool, I used to play with on one of my PC's a few years back. Once MorphOS and Amiga OS 4.0 started getting updated and revived I lost interest though. BeOS is cooler than Windows thats for sure! The new Linspire 5.0 is suppose to be pretty awesome too!

Erm, it's a *lot* more than just a few drivers. There's quite a few applications as well, some are just bundled but there's Zeta only stuff as well.

Try out BeOS Max, If it works well you can think of Zeta as a major upgrade.
