There is a OpenPCI V2.0 version for MorphOS which contains several strongly required functions.

Unfortunatly, these functions aren't working and any driver which is using them won't work, too.

OpenPCI v1.2 didn't return the memory, after PCI_FREEDMA_MEM(). This bug very easy to detect - just run many times 'openpciinfo'.
Is this bug still present in v2.0?

I don't know! I just made a few tests on Amithlon with the latest version and it's working perfect there.

    Hello,

Standard OpenPCI for MOS is 2.0.

To check version : open a shell, type version openpci.library.

If everything is ok it will give 2.0.

    Regards.

OpenPCI V2.0 is not available for the public.

There is no need to use it, because it's new features aren't working correct.

I don't know if they ever get fixed, because the author told me to quit amiga programming around April last year, when delivering the first beta version. Didm't hear anything since then.

Maybe i'm too optimistic but can't you ask him to take over the
development of OpenPCI? you are a very skilled programmer! :)

Or what about using IOUSB 2.2 for drivers from Felix Schwarz? Or is
    this something complete different?

So, does this mean there will be no ArrakAttack in the foreseeable future for MOS?

I tried it some weeks ago, but as it asked for OpenPCI 2.0 and I never got hold of it I simply forgot about it.

    >So, does this mean there will be no ArrakAttack in the foreseeable future for MOS?
Yes, but there will be an other option.

    >I tried it some weeks ago, but as it asked for OpenPCI 2.0 and I never got hold of it I simply forgot about it.
It requires some of the function. When I released the stuff I expected the functions to be fixed, soon.

    >and what does 2.0 do that's an improvement?
With 2.0 it's finally possible to allocate pci cards, so no second driver is poking the same hardware. My driver grabs any USB controller it find and that would collide with the MorphOS version. There is also a missing memory address converting function implemented, which is very important.

ok, I understand that's out but is there a list of PCI cards that will work?

I've read that for a PCI USB card it should be "based on VIA 6202 chip".

not being a hardware person i'm not sure exactly what that means but i wrote it down anyway. :-D

is that all i really need to know?

and let me say thank you to all programmers of these things.

"Via" Chips are using UHCI/EHCI combinations. Since there is an UHCI driver for MorphOS (e.g. Used for the main board) cards with those chips are working out of the box, but only with 1:1 speed.

"NEC" Chips are using OHCI/EHCI controller combinations. Currently there is no OHCI and no EHCI driver, so these cards aren't working.
