For the few of you who do not know what a KVM switch is, it's a device used to switch the Keyboard, Video, and Mouse from one computer to another. With that out of the way, I've read in a thread or two about the KVM switches that seem to have problems with the Pegasos.... Good news, it's NOT this KVM switch!

The KVM2KIT by Linksys, you know the router people, is a relatively small device, about three cent. square and less than one cent. deep. Physically, the device seems solid, well made, with indicator lights and two sets of built in cables.

Unlike some of the other KVM switches I've seen mentioned, this thing works quite well between a Pegasos and a PC. The device handles the switching internally, and is activated by "double pressing" the Scroll Lock key found on most keyboards.

In two months of operation, the device has failed only once, when it continously switched between the two computers. This was easily fixed by disconnecting both computers from the switch, and reconnecting them. Otherwise, this KVM switch has worked flawlessly between a Pegasos (running MorphOS 1.4) and a PC (Windows 2000).

Overall, this KVM Switch has performed to expectations, and the keyboard based "hotkey" switching is nice. I would suggest this device to anyone with multiple computers that wants to save on desk space (not to mention saving on the cost of purchasing multiple monitors).

hmm, I've heard of people with such things.

While i don't think this can work with my laptop, if i ever get an uA1 i will want to have this for my peg.

Good review! :) I'm glad they moved control to the scroll lock key. My older model linksys KVM used the shift key. Not good when playing Quake or Doom! :)

I'm have the 'Level ONE KVM0201'.
It's smaller than your's KVM and with indicator lights too. It's size just like matchstick box. It have just two wires from box
to the svga connectors (1.8 and 0.5 meters). And a SVGA connectors have small wires to keyboard and mice.

The device handles the switching internally, and is activated by "double pressing" the Left Ctrl and 1 or 2. It have many modes of work (switching every second/3sec./.. and other), I don't use they and so fogot.

Just maybe one bug (or may be not it bug): image on the screen first minutes of work have 'side effect' (1024x768 but my CRT is 6 years old)

In six months of operation, the device hasn't failed, and it continously switched between the two computers (PC&PegII).

Cecilia: If your laptop has vga-out and ps2 connectors for mouse/keyboard, something should work I'll test on a laptop sometime and let you know...
