I want to start using my Pegasos to control my midi gear.

Anyone know of a midi i/f that will work with B&P / PSA ?

    Cheers,
    Robert.

AFAIK Martin Blom's SB Live! driver has a "camd" driver which should allow you to use midi :-)

    Hi!

I have Yamaha PSR 295 and it works flawlessly with BnP. But as there aren't finished drivers for internal game port, I had to buy SB Live card with EMU10k, which is supported very well. Then You don't need any interface, just the game port cable and BnP will use it directly.

    Bye, MarK.

    Hi,

A few weeks ago I send a mail to Alfred Faust, the maintainer of B&P. I had a few questions about B&P on my Amiga and the MOS version. This is what he replied about the MOS version and MIDI:

    -------------------------------------------------
The MOS-version is now in a state, that I can say it works stable. The most used tools are also ported. The problem was, that I have only for 20
of the original tools the source. So I had to write tools from scratch ...
this is reall a hard job. At the moment I'm working on a AHI-Audio-Output-tool.

Unfortunately the TriplePlay is NOT working on the PEGASOS. The reason is, that the COM-port (serial) doesn't support the odd baudrate of MIDI, like all PC-COM-ports.

The MIDI-transmission is at the moment only possible over the gameport, like over the MPU401 on the PC's. Martin Blom (AHI) have had written a audio/midi-driver for the Soundblaster LIVE! series soundcards with the EMU10k1 soundchip. These soundcards become very cheap at the second-hand market, 15-20. This is working with the CAMD.library. At the moment this works very well, but with "only" 16 MIDI-channels.

Thank you all for your replies. I have an SB Live 5.1 in my A1 which isn't getting much use at the moment so I'll swap that out.

Does the cable that attaches to the game port give just one in and one out?
(I'm using all three outs on my A1200 i/f atm and still having to daisy-chain. I have two synths, a basstation, drum machine & sound module all hooked up.)

    Thanks,
    Robert.

    @Robert

The gameport midi cable only has a midi in and midi out.

Hmmm... I suppose I could just Daisy-chain everything.
I take it this cable is currently the only way of connecting midi gear?

[nothing more substantial (e.g. 3 outs) is available yet?]

USB MIDI interface would be cool, but has anyone seen the price on those cables? $60!

    Time for some competition! :-D

An equivalent serial midi i/f, like I use on my A1200, would be ideal.
    Simple and effective - 3 outs, 1 in, 1 through. £25.

    Eh? Care to elaborate?
Pegasos is my main recording/mastering machine at the moment (PSA), although most stuff is recorded to a digital multitracker first.
Midi and tracking still carried out on A1200. (OSS).

    Why would you need 32bit?

Mmmhh... 800*600 8bit is not really nice...in my opinion and the screen can't be show all...

You can have 1024 x 768 8 bit, which is OK.
    That's what I use.
