    Ave!

After the OFW-USB question, I have an another: I have a Logitech Cordless Desktop Optical keyboard, and I can't find out, how can I use the Multimedia keys on it (Email, WWW, etc.). There is a possiblita in Trident prefs, but it seems, that my keyboard has different thoughts of handling this keys. Is here anybody with the same or similar keyboard?

You just might want to read the 150KB manual on Poseidon and in particular the HID class, that can be found in your HELP: drawer.

I've read it. The problem is that if I turn on the "Track incoming events" checkbox, the normal keys are working (the cursor goes to the corresponding key in the list), but there is no effect at my special keys. Is it possible to add new keys to the list?

(The other thing I don't understand is, that if I click on the Settings of the Keyboard/Mouse combo's device in Poseidon, it will open 2 windows. In the first I can configure my keyboard (here are the following Reports and collections: Keyboard, [Extra]), but in the other window there is also a possiblity to change a lot of keys (including QWERTY keys), but they don't work (except the mouse's things). (Here are: Pointer (Mouse), Mouse, Consumer Control, System Control, Consumer Control (again).))

Well, the second window is what you need ;-)
It is the same as with my cherry Keyboard.
Play a bit with it, use the track incoming events checkbox. If it doesn`t work in the first window, it should in the second one. That was at least true for my cherry Keyboard. If it still doesn`t work something strange must happend then ;-)

Ah and before I forget it, just a little sidenote, if you ever think about playing one of those amiblitz games which apeared recently... well forget about them, they won`t work with USB Keyboards (And don`t ask me why, the Progger of Amiblitz blame it on the way USB is implemented, I guess Chris will blame them for the way how the adress teh keyboard etc :-D )

As Bladerunner said, multimedia keyboards usually come with two interfaces -- one for the standard keys (for the easy bootkeyboard protocol ps2 keyboard emulation, see other thread) and one with the multimedia keys (and possibly also a mouse). Hence, clicking on settings will open a window for each interface (you can open a specific one by opening the devices information window and double clicking the interface).

So using Track incoming events, you should find out the right items for the keys.

As about Amiblitz: Yeah, I'd rather blame Amiblitz, because the USB keys are sent in a system conform manner -- maybe Amiblitz uses the keyboard device or lowlevel-library directly instead of input handlers or IDCMP.

Yes, I've tried "Track Incoming Events" in both windows, but it does not work for multimedia key, only with the standard pc105 keyboard buttons. :( Any idea? Does Logitech support a custom protocoll?

Logitech does not have a custom protocol.

Oh yeah, that method only works for usb-keyboards... (and before it's mentioned, I'm betting somone with a standard keyboard is trying to figure out why the trident prefs aren't working!)

I bought a Logitech UltraX PS/2 keyboard. It has 6 multimedia buttons, but only one of them works in MorphOS, it is even recognized as media_play. But only one :(

Of course, I use it plugged into the USB port :) (It has a USB/PS2 converter too.)

IMO, MorphOS team should work on better keyboard support, which would transfer all the keyboard data... This way atleast RAW keys should be able to read multimedia keys and then 3rd party products can handle them...
And I am talking about PS/2 also.

The same with mice and their fourth and fifth buttons... When looking at os includes, fourth button seams to be supported, but it does not work with my mouse...

What was the last version released? I think I have it? Was it 2.2?

I would also like to see some sort of better support for these keys. Even something that would let you just press a key and then have it ask what action it should do, attach an app to one ect. Sort of like the ones for PC and Mac work.
