    @ _4afc_

Hmm, really interesting. But it's talking only about 7450 and 7455, not about 7447/7457, that is the current solution in Pegasos G4. Looks, like motorola just 'tried' to support some temperature measurements... But G3 machine is IBM product, and it should contain a bit different TAU, that might work well... Have to check this.

    Bye, MarK.

It is talking about MPC7447A, that will the future solution in Pegasos G4. I just disappointed. In press releases we can read:
    New Power Management Features
1-Clock frequency can be changed dynamically
2-Temperature sensing diodes included to monitor die temperature

But in MPC7450 Family Chip Errata for the MPC7447A we can read that "The TAU is not implemented on the MPC7447A."

    I can't understand that.

It seems to be a different unit that is being introduced with the 7447A.

hmm the new G4 PegII has another cooling solution that
makes not such extrem noise? is there only another fan
or has it also another cooler?
can you make a picture? :)

I just wanted to make a follow-up on my initial post in this thread. I have now had the CPU going at 100% non-stop for several days, crunching RC5 keys, and it runs very cool. Everything works fine!

Why not use a Peltier and run the G4 at, say, 10 degrees C? Vary the power supplied to vary the temp (not too cold our you might end up with heat expansion failure when you switch it off)and the water cooling systems cyphon the heat from the other side away, and allow for a big, slow, fan to pull it all out.

Maybe a bit over the top I guess, lol ...
