short answer, no just plug in and it (should) work.
Long answer, well USB Hardware actually works like a charm imho much better than under my Win 98 driven PC. Just plug in your Hardware Device and in most cases, your device should work out of the box, instead of windows, where you have first to install the right driver. Currently USB Keyboards are also the only way to have all Keys on Multimediakeyboards working. Same goes for mice (and Poseidon has some nice features for additional mouse buttons, like screen switch etc)

The downside, at least here on my Peg 1, there is no support through OF for USB. I don`t know if this is true for the Peg2 (Hello Firmware Update for Peg1 pleeeeeeease?) but i am afraid it is. That means you are not able to use USB Keyboards until your OS is loaded. So if you want to dual boot with Linux, you still have to conect an additional PS2 Keyboard.

When I discovered there was no hope of using a floppy drive with the Peg II's on-board controller, I tried a USB floppy drive. MOS appears to detect it just fine (I see it when in the USB System Settings) but neither Amiga formatted nor PC formatted disks are mounting. Do I need special mountlists for both? The good news is, the drive seems to react to disk insertions which makes it very Amiga-like. :)

Why I am even bothering with this? Having a working floppy drive would be the fastest way for me to un-pack all of my .DMS files. I've had zero success using all of the hard drive-based alternatives to DMS & a true floppy drive.

pc floppies are physicaly incompatible with amiga floppies, even usb
    ones

if your dms are valid dos disks images you can try voodoox to extract
    their contents

Then why would the MOS faq suggest using a USB drive?

So there's no hope to read Amiga disks, what about PC formatted ones? Is this still a simple matter of a mountlist/filesystem, or is something else required?

You can read amiga formated disks with the Catweasel PCI card. Its still beta drivers, but they do work well. There is also a keyboard interface on the card that you can use th ebeta driver for a real Amiga keyboard, its not all that great though.

I don't know about this for sure... But it might be as simple as it is for USB memories, you just need to install fat95 (available from aminet) and it might work straight away...

(And if it won't work straight away, you'll likely need fat95 anyway)
