Some idea; Have had a similar problem some time ago. First i thought the harddrive goes wrong, checked all and everything, also bought a new 2nd hand g5 mac, Finaly i have also replaced the graphics card, and of course, the gfx-card which have died in some place, makes the trouble. There was no valid screen given anylonger. Have replaced the card, and all was fine again. byebye

Oh, yes, please check up the Morphos page for it.
Here, at the top of the Morphos compatibility-overview. https://www.morphos-team.net/hardware

1.) Check up; which G5 mac is yours, mostly those models -> PowerMac 7,2 and PowerMac7,3 (A1047)
2.) 2nd - the overview of all known gfx-cards which should work together with your g5 mac. Check also your own mac, open your mac, and have a look to the inner world of it. First, remove the powercable from it.. Which card was used before. (cleaning up the machine, propably full of dust.. )
3.) check up your hardware-dealer, _bay.

I have had various cards, like ATI Radeon X1950 XT, ATI Radeon 9800 XT ... byebye

So, I wanted to take screenshots of the partitions in HD-Tools... and MorphOS doesn't boot anymore! 🤦‍♂️

Booting is stuck on "DO-QUIESCE finished_" and, because I haven't done much with it since yesterday, I think that it could really be the hard disk.

I'll try with a "new" disk this week and let you know and I'll also check out different graphic cards!

This message means that Kernel has bootet, but don't find a partition with the diskbased part to boot further.
Therefore I want to see the config of your partitions. I guess something is wrong there..

And you can verify it by doing the MorphOS keyboard reset. Press the ctrl-cmd-cmd keyboard combination, and if it boots the machine, then it was on the MorphOS side rather than the Firmware side.

One thing that could also make it to stuck at that point, is that if you have somehow incompatible Radeon driver installed on the system. I guess it's a farfetched idea, but checking if the System:MorphOS/Devs/Monitors/Radeon file is the same as on the installation media (or the one from Bigfoot's tinygl update).. in any case it shouldn't have booted in any way then, so very unlikely to be the issue here.

Thanks for your help!

So, I got another SATA disk, more modern!, and reinstalled MorphOS from scratch. As before, it went without a glitch!

Still, same problem: my G5 chimes but only boots if I go in OF and type "bye" or "boot".

I uploaded the config of my partitions here: HDConfig, DH0, DH1, and DH2 (all created automatically by the installer).

I check the Radeon driver, it's version 52.41. Is that the proper/latest version?

The next step would be to try a different graphic card?

The latest driver is 52.43 from MOS 3.19. I don't think that your gra-card is the reason.
For what I can see, your partitioning is OK. It's crazy that it does not boot! I can only imagine that you did something wrong in ENV-variables and/or NVRAM.

Please post here folowing again: Environmentvariables, NVRAM and the device-alias:

Your HD is mounted to the 1st SATA-Port? If not, please do and for test put all other drives away (if there any).

If we don't find the reason, don't give up. There is a second way: we can do it with a forth-bootmenue. This should work in any case.

Yeah, I don't think it's about Radeon, because you can get it to boot somehow.

I would try to put the HD in the sata@0/disk@0 port... if something doesn't work here when the HD isn't on the connector it usually is...

I'm not sure in which SATA port is my hard disk connected
The "natural" one I guess: the hard disk is lying flat (as in this image) and connected by the connectors sticking from the below it.

I also took photos of the different info. in OF: printenv, devalias, and nvedit. In nvedit, there's only the devalias needed for "hd" to point to the boot partition of MorphOS. With this alias, I can do "dir hd:\" and see its contents, without I'd get an error (recall this post).

PS. Forgot to mention that I tried yet another SATA disk, a 2.5", with the same behaviour: I can install MorphOS no problem, but I must go through OF to boot...

Lower bay for hd is OK!. There should be no need for pointing to this port in nvram! This path is created by OF on the run!

Unfortunately I cannot see your pics ( printenv, devalias, and nvedit) - your pic-host (chingu) is classified here (now?) and has been blocked.

Very strange! I can see that OF creates correct entries for HD.
What happens if you use ultra1 instead?

What you also can do: Mount your HD in upper bay and see if printenv for hd is changeing to from....sata@1,..... to .........sata@0...

If it does, pathes are set correctly by OF (should be no need for NVRAM).

If nothing works, the best way is to use a boot-menue.

So I tried as you suggested to connect the HD to the top connectors and, indeed, the definition of hd goes from "...sata@1..." to "...sata@0...".

Yet, still it doesn't boot!

As when connected at the bottom, I must enter OpenFirmware and type "bye" to boot MorphOS... Crazy, eh?

I think that I'll leave it at that for the moment...
