I assume "the new hardware" refers to the announced
Mirari board, which in relation to G5 power hog levels won't consume significantly less watts per performance than the CyrusPlus/X5000 as it's quite similar technology (28nm e5500/e6500 from 2012 vs. 45nm e5500 from 2010). Power consumption is not defined by the year the board/system is released but by the technology deployed on/in it.
