Aren't those cards 3D-supported on Linux? And why no X19x0?

    R3xx to R9xx is 2D-only in OS4.

Aren't those cards 3D-supported on Linux? And why no X19x0?

Technically they are, but OpenGL 2.x only which for Linux terms means there are not many apps which will profit from 3D acceleration. Also with current Xorg Server the desktop won't use 'GLAMOR' (3D hardware) acceleration either per default but 'EXA' which is less capable. You can force GLAMOR via an user generated /etc/xorg.conf, which seems to work fine on R500 cards, but the user needs to be able to generate such an xorg.conf. ;-)

X19x0 is R500 and would work as such but it's big (and loud) so it will probably give you a hard time crammig it into an X5000 next to a dual slot RX 470.

Bigger problem on Linux howerver is that current mesa versions (24.2.0 and above) won't work on Big Endian hardware at all due to issue #11933.

    Sounds plausible, thanks.

My comment #2 has links to solutions to that:
    - using the 3rd, 4th or 5th PCIe slot (x1) with an x16-to-x1 adapter
    - using the 2nd PCIe slot (x4) with an x16-to-x4 cable

Both X1900 and X1950 have been reported to fit.

    Pity.

As Andreas said you currently can't use 3D on MorphOS on the Radeon HD 5450. You will have to wait until the TinyGL project is completed.

For the time being stick to a Radeon X1600, X1550, X1300 if you want full 2D/3D on MorphOS and 2D on Linux. _If_ you do that be sure to replace your HD 5450 with a newer Radeon like the RX 470 which is well supported on Amiga OS 4.1 and will not get detected and used by MorphOS.

Or you simply wait until the TinyGL project is finished and get away with 2D/3D on MorphOS and Linux. However I don't know how well the Radeon HD 5450 is supported on Amiga OS 4.1 as I don't own a machine capable of running OS 4.1.

    Sorry I rectify,

My Graphics card is a Radeon 7700,as shown in the title bar of AmigaOS 4.1.

    Hope this helps

as Andreas said, it is impossible to have one card with 3D acceleration on MorphOS, AmigaOS and linux.

    look here:
    AmigaNG – kompatabilita HW s AmigaOS, MorphOS a linux ( Czech )
Amiga NG - compatibilité matérielle avec AmigaOS 4, MorphOS et Linux ( French )

Abov are articles about hw compatibility. It explains why you need more cards. Use google translate.

If you really want only one graphics card, it is possible, but you shoud resign to 3D ( even on 2D ) on some systems.
Here is article about Sam460LE ( Czech), see paragraph 4 with graphics cards options.
For X5000 I am not recommend one card solution. Second card fit here. I also have in my Powermac G5 an AmigaOne X1000 two graphics cards.

    @sailor
Great articles, for me the Sam 460LE was very on point.

My question is can you define the 1950pro card with more info
I have found x1950 pro with 512 mem and dddr3,
and x1950 xt with 256 mem and ddr2,
and some times no mention of specs

Please list specs if you can

I am looking for one card for my Sam460LE and your info leads me to the something 1950 something

Thanks again for your great articles

Yes, it really does. First off, I'm astonished that MorphOS can display on your Radeon HD77xx at all (as you described in several comments), as I've never before read such thing and it really shouldn't, at least going by what's known regarding GPU support of MorphOS. Can anybody else confirm that MorphOS somehow/somewhat works (at least to some extent) on GCN1-based graphics cards?
So, if your GPU luckily isn't TeraScale2 but GCN1, which is 3D-supported by OS4 (with A-Eon drivers), then you're off the hook as you can keep this card for OS4 in the primary slot and just need to add to another slot a card 3D-supported by MorphOS and Linux, which would be R5xx-based, as has been mentioned numerous times in this thread.

XT has somewhat faster GPU than Pro. And for MorphOS at least, 256 MiB VRAM is the limit anyway, so that a 512 MiB VRAM card will show only 256 MiB. Memory type can be largely ignored I'd say.

    Many thanks for the info!

I got the 1950 pro, but new issue
the card works in my 5000 in os4 and morph cd boots (smile)

but not in my sam460LE, when plugged in on the Sam at power on it just shows a black screen? (sigh)

    any clues

Do you see only black screen and nothing else? No U-Boot output?

    - at first check if graphics card 6-pin power connector is correctly plugged
    - if you have other card working with Sam460LE, in U-Boot menu set Video Options / x86 BIOS emulator to slow

if anything not works, you should post here serial debug log.
