Solved:
How: pure luck and nothing else

i got it installed
but it hung on boot with a flashing mac folder
so i used the ALT boot menu to get in
this morning i just let it sit at the flashing folder and after a minute or so it went ahead and booted
i wasnt expecting that but glad its resolved
after a week of testing i will apply for my license
the ebay dealer was more than fair
the mac is mint
packed with great care
and i havent found anything i dont lke abut it except it doesnt like my dvd+r memorex burn discs
i hear single layer dvd minus discs do work
though my vision is poor at least i can se this giant screen well enough
im impressed with the g5 performance so far
wayfarer runs well and automatically offered to fix fonts, ssl, and other things
very nice
i eventually overcame the burning issues by havng mac os burn the disc instead of linux
it just took all night to learn the mac disk utility
