I searched the forums but couldn't fins any cold hard facts. I know that the Marvell DiscoveryII chip has full support for ecc-memory, but how do I activate it? Right now my Peg2 is on it's way, but I haven't bought any memory for it yet. I would like to buy 512MB Corsair Reg. ECC, but if I cant use the ecc-functions I could just as well go with a regular memory. Can anyone here help me out?

I'm not quite sure. On my previous pc's there have been an option in bios to "activate" the ecc-support. I suspect that I must enable it in OF so the marvell-chip knows how to properly use the memory.

    Hi

Well, I cant answer when it comes to firmware and on this matter. However from the hardwareside (bridge-controller) there should be support as that whats the specification says.

When it comes to sofware, I dont know of any software for MorphOS where you can control thoose things.

As for Linux, Im also unsure, the only thing I have heard about is Netfinity. However I have never used such software myself.

I believe better you ask in some linux forum if there is some software for these kind of things.

ECC memory are mostly used in some servers, as what i know, as these memory counts and buffers, or what they do, and are said to be safer.

    Hi Kamelryttarn,

I'm currently using a Corsair 512 stick in my Peg II. It works perfect. I will have to check if it is the ECC or not.

Just thought you'd like to know if it was compatible with MOS and PegII.

    Have a great day!

I currently have a 1Gb REG ECC Kingston memory module installed, it works fine.

Of course, due to the issues with firmware or whatever I must boot to linux with mem=256M.

Dunno about ECC being on or not, it works, so I don't even have to.
