    Hello all,

I just tried to install Morphos 3.11 on my sam460ex, but it fails just like 3.10.

Just like I described in this thread https://morph.zone/modules/newbb_plus/viewtopic.php?topic_id=12265&forum=11#135797

I get the same error messages.

I've read at obligement that it would be solved in the next release.
But the problem remains with 3.11.

So I registered morphos for my sam, but I can't install anything else than morphos 3.9

I don't know what to do anymore. Somebody from the morphos team PLEASE HELP ME.

So you don't even manage to get past the bootloader or is there some problem with the Radeon card later on ? The mentioned thread is not really clear there except that it covers multiple issues with running MorphOS on Sam460ex.

    The bootloader gives some errors:
    - Failed to load cache block 0 from device 2
    - Failed to load partitions on device 2

device 2 is my DVD/CDROM device.

    Then it says:
    Timeout, booting from ISO9660

It then loads the boot.img, and then says "booting..."and stays there forever.

My gfxcard is a radeon X1550.

    Hi all,

So I can't install 3.12 either. Same problems as with 3.10 and 3.11.
I tried to send a bug report, but it crashes when I press send.
Can somebody from the morphos-team help me PLEASE?

Any chance you're coming to Neuss for Amiga34?

Looking at the log is a bit hard to say what's going on. If you can do that, try booting from a prompt with boot.img edebugflags=init - that'll hopefully show what's going on.

Unfortunately I can't come to Neuss. I have mental issues, so big crowds get on my nerves.

It's a bit of a silly question, but how exactly do I boot from a prompt ?

No idea about booting, sorry. I've never used this computer myself.

As for why it doesn't boot - try unplugging the Radeon and/or the Sii sata controller. One of those may be causing it to fail.

From what you pasted previously, it looks like something is at least missing from the middle of the log.

When does this crash happen? Previous posts indicate that you're able to boot the installation media at least, right?

If you are able to boot to desktop before it crashes, then please give an as detailed as possible description of what you do before it crashes.

Please generate a new serial log. If whatever program you're using to receive the log supports logging/saving the input to a file, please use that option to make sure everything gets saved, then please upload the saved file to something like pastebin.com and give us a link to what you've uploaded. Alternatively you can email the log to me, see my signature for the email address.

    Hi Bigfoot,

I can't boot from the installation media.
The boot img is loaded and then nothing...

OK, if that really is the entire serial log, then we need to add some debug arguments to MorphOS to get more info.

Now please bear with me, I'm doing this from memory and I don't have access to any hardware to test with myself currently, so it might need some adjustment to actually work.

First get to the text console of U-Boot. You do that by pressing enter, escape or some other button during boot. There'll be text on the screen telling you which one it is.

Once you're there, type the following command:

    Code:
setenv morphosargs qdebugflags "init log" edebugflags "init log initresident pci"

You can then type "printenv" to make sure that the morphosargs variable was stored correctly. It should retain the double quotes at the exact places I wrote them.

Then when that's done, and I'm slightly unsure about this one, I think you need to execute the boota command. If your computer boots as normal, then it was the right one :) The serial log created from this boot should have a lot more information to work with, so please upload that one.

It's output via serial just like before, so whereever your serial terminal program stores it.

Then there was a problem with the boot arguments or how the boot was initiated.

So let's just make sure, you did the setenv command, then ran the boota command, and took the log from that without rebooting inbetween any of the steps?

If so, then maybe let's try with a simpler argument string for now. Try this instead

    Code:
    setenv morphosargs edebugflags init
    boota

And see if that generates a log with more info.

OK, next plan... I've prepared custom MorphOS 3.12 ISO and HD images that should have the required debug options enabled by default, so you just need to boot your preferred custom image the way you would boot MorphOS 3.12.

I'll send the links to you in a private message.

That's probably my mistake, sorry about that!

I've updated the images, same URLs as before. New MD5 sums are:

    a5805a994639061eead19f94dc855c21 .hdimg
    adea257ef0ce32c3648193e177d0960d .iso

You can use those to verify that you've downloaded the updated image. So please redownload, check the MD5 sum and test again. Thanks!

I downloaded the new iso and verified the checksum.

Generated a new serial log. Same problem.

BTW the bootloader gives some error messages:
Failed to load cache block 0 from device 2
Failed to scan partitiuons on device 2

    What do these messages mean?

OK, that's really weird. It's Amiga 34 this weekend, and I'll have lots of travelling right after, but if you have patience and you are willing to test some more images later, we'll get to the bottom of this and get it solved.

Those messages means that U-Boot presented some storage device as being available, but attempting to read from it failed. It's likely something benign such as the MicroSD slot being empty, or an empty optical drive, or something to that effect. Your logs indicate that MorphOS did load and start to boot, so these messages are unrelated to whatever the problem on your system is.
