Looks like I am ordering direct from the web site. Its only $617 for the G4 board there. Thats over $100 less then the two US dealers here sell for. Can anyone that did this tell me about what shipping to the US is? I dont want to end up being charged like $100 or something for it. I cant see the final price before I enter my credit card info.

    Hi!

    Just sent you an email...:-)

"Hi, we ship in bulk to the USA (you do not pay for this) and then inside the USA ship FedEx. The charges are listed on the order page. They are pretty reasonable."

Let us know if setting up an account and ordering went smoothly!

    Thanks for the order! :-D

We charge nearly the same prices to the dealers because we think they make more money selling complete systems and that is what we want to encourage. If you look here:

    Ultra Spec Custom System

    ...and then here:

Pegasos II Systems, Open Desktop (at the bottom)

    Ulta Spec is cheaper...;-)

... and waiting time? Do any of the two US dealers have boards in stock? If that is the case, then you should perhaps consider ordering from them. Production runs of the Pegasos seems to be somewhat occational ATM (or rather, after a significant amount of orders has been placed) ...

Otherwise I think http://www.ggsdata.se has boards in stock, I can personally recommend this dealer. You could always try to drop a mail to gunne@ggsdata.se and ask if it's possible ...

Just got an email from Bill. He said what they do if you buy direct is bulk ship an order to the US. You dont pay for this. Then its Fedex shipped to you. Its only $18 for me in shipping with a three week wait. Not bad at all.

Have no fear ordering through there. I am on my second order via pegasosppc.com..Peg I and now Peg II.

Indeed I thought it odd that the re-seller price (ultraspec) I checked was $700+ vs $620 (approx.) 'direct' from the website. This was for a bare G4 not a system in both cases.

I see you already got a personal reply from bbrv and you really can't say fairer than that :-) Hopefully the personal touch continues as the company grows....I have a feeling it will since bbrv love to interact with people.

    Genesi rock! :-D

Ultraspec still has a limited number of boards available. We sell them included with a complete system. Customization is available.

Even though Ultraspec sells the boards for a slight markup you do get nice support from them and immediate delivery. Complete systems are highly recommended for new users though...

Soon there wont be much of a delay when ordering from PegasosPPC as hopefully there will be plenty of
    boards to go around

    Cool Acill :-)

If you want to have some fun, and if you have a network card in your A3000 -- networking between the systems is fairly easily achieved through envoy. If you have kids, etc, you can set up the network to moniter the files the kid keeps on the harddrive etc...

I'm sorry if my reply sounded like I was knocking anyone, it was intended to just confirm the difference in pricing. I've no issues and no desire to pee anyone off :-D

Support is great for those that need it, so far (touches wood) I never have.

    Onward and upward,

Well I have my old IDE amiga drive I just got done moving the workbech stuff over to. The boot drive was a SCSI drive. All I did was use dopus to move all the dirs and files over to a OS39 dir I made on the IDE drive. That should let me keep all my stuff. I can hook the old 4GB drive up on the Peg when I have it all built to recover what I need correct?

Here is what I need help with. The new drive I have for the peg is a 60GB Western Digital IDE drive. How do I set this up? I know I'll need to add some partitions to it. The setup guide on morpgnews.de looks good, is that all I'll need?

With MiamiDX and its assigns it needs in OS39, will it still need this in Morph? Same with the other stuff that installs like that. How about using the Amiga installer app to install things I download from Aminet, will they install and ask me where I want to ect?

    Acill,

Your plan for your old IDE drive should work.

The setup guide is a good document. BTW, it may seen that the
partition it asks you to make for dh0: is quite large. However, the
install CD installs things like Voyager and APDF there, so the space
    is needed.

As far as assignments goes, MOS works the same as AOS so you will need
your assignments for MiamiDX and your other software. You will also
meed to copy the V43 Installer from your OS3.9 to your MOS system.

Whats the deal with you? I for one feel like I am on an Amiga when I use a Pegasos, and it runs Amiga software just fine, some even better the my A3000 did. Tell me what an Amiga has to be for it to be an Amiga? Since no company has produced a "real" as you put it amiga in some time, I would be interested to see your point of view on just what one is.

And a "PC" isnt even a PC any longer if the hardware you call an Amiga is what makes an Amiga. The original PC IBM produced has nothing in common with the systems that sell today. Hardware matures. The PEg is more of an Amiga then the A1 is since it has a real OS made for the hardware!
