    Hello all. I got a Powerbook G4 17" where I installed MOS 3.9, which I already registered.
This computer has a Radeon9700M with 64MB of RAM, and I use it at a resolution of 1440x900. Unfortunately, there are some kind of red lines visible, depending the background color. For example, when I use the Mettalix wallpaper, there is a wierd circle of red and green colors.
you can see the problem at the following photo.

    mos_colors.jpg

This problem is not visible when I boot to MacOS.

Do you believe that I must change something at my configuration? Is it a known problem of MOS? Is there a solution?

Thank you all for your help.

I'd try your Powerbook with an external display, to make sure it's not the panel issue.

Try an older Radeon-driver (eg. from MOS 3.7).
    Peg2, 3xPowerMac G5, 2xPowerbookG4, 2x MacMiniG4, Efika (again), A3000T and life is never boring.....

Thank you all for your replies. I install Chrysalis package and until now it seems it is resolved, as I don't see it anymore.
I can't say where the problem was, but I wonder about the screen setup. I just saw that on this system the resolution is 1440x900 24bit, and I can't increase the color bit to 32bits. Is it logical?

If this issue appear again, I will inform you guys.

24 bit is the normal max resolution (>16 mill colors) for MOS.
32 bit (24+8) is additional alpha channel (afaik) ...

btw: 64MB VRAM isn't very much - I think you would run out of VRAM useing higher resolutions/depths, when useing more screens at a time...

Hello again. Today I started the machine and seemed to work just fine. I run the GfxSpeed performance checker and since then the problem came back. It happens now even if I restart the computer.

    Any clue?

Sounds like an issue with the soldering of the graphics chip or micro cracks on the mobo - had the same problem with my old 17'' PB. Ended up replacing the mother board since attempts to fix this with a heat gun did not help.

If it was this issue, would it do the same under MacOS X, or even do it all the time under morphos? What I saw also is that if I reduce the colour bits, the wrong color lines move to an other position and are mostly green.
