I wish I wouldn't have to say this, but I'm dissappointed with the new G4 combined sink & fan.. It's making a lot of noise.

The Pegasos 2 is two or three times as noisy as my P4/Celeron. I admitt I built my P4/celeron especially to be quiet so it is indeed very quiet. The Arctic Cooling TC active fan is barely making any noise, the PSU is as silent as they come, and the harddisk is a nice Seagate 7200 suspended in rubber, as is the disk in my Pegasos.

The Pegasos CPU fan is getting on my nerves. I have to find a way to shut it up. Call me over-sensitive, but I can't have this on my desktop. :(

In case anyone wonders, it does not sound broken. It sounds as if it's constantly running at it's top speed, unlike the Arctic Cooling TC, which adapts to the temperature of the processor.

    Hi jonas_kirilla:

I do not fully agree with you here that the T&T capfan supplied with the Peg II G4 is so soundy, its not from my opinion.

As for fans for power supply, thoose Usilent ones are very silent... also in my opinion :-)

However if you are interrested we can offer you other fans.

Sunon fans are also quite good in my opinion, 40x10mm in size, and fit on passive cooler, also on a Zalman northbridge cooler.

Adda fans are also good, and they claim 14db, size also 40x10mm, and 12V DC, Sunon 5V DC. Couldnt find any info about noise for the Sunon.

And about delivery, you did get it over night, when we sent it away ;-)

    All the best !
    Gunne
    Best wishes, Gunne

Anyway, I have followed the example of 'takemehomegrandma' as displayed here:
    http://www.hig.se/~sbn/cooling.jpg

    1. a Zalman Northbridge Cooler
    2. Fan and fan holder from Zalman CNPS6500B-AlCu

It's still twice as loud as my P4/Celeron though. This Zalman is said to produce 20dB when turned down by the Fan Mate. I'll replace it with a 12 dB Papst later on. (my economy is already rather strained)

Yes, get a more silent fan, and *do not* run it at full speed. It will be enough if you get some air moving through the pins. :-)
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)
MorphOS NG will be AROS done right! :-)

Yes, that might be a good solution I believe.

And the Zalman northbridge cooler have longer legs, and should therefore lead away heat little better.

Yes, I was very pleased with your swift delivery and help, Gunne! :)

Apart from the fan I'm quite happy with the Pegasos itself. Looking forward to dual and/or G5, and the Pegasos III of course. :-D:-D:-D

I'd love to support your business, Gunne, but I also need to make sure my favorite local shop (Tricom.se) stay in business. (lots of new shops opening here) They list dB ratings of all fans and harddisks, which is a godsend.

    I'm looking at getting this one: Papst 80mm, temp regulated, 30-50C, 1200-2050rpm, 15.9-26.5CFM, 10-19dBA, 3pin. (10dB!)

    Cheers!

ugly.. not what i'm told, but judge for yoursellf

    http://polyhead.net/~polyhead/Oregon/washingtonpark/DSCF0098.JPG

I just can't beleive the number of half assed JURY rigged solutions you idiots come up with, not even good JURY rigged solutions. I mean ####ign #### people, if i can make a slot A athlon silent, you should be able to make this happen. Its only 17 ####ing watts!
    http://polyhead.net/~polyhead/Comp/RallyIn01.jpg

ugly but it was dead silent. I'm sure a similar setup would work on a peg. Better than hanging a fan in the middle of ####ing no where, whith its back against the ####ing side of the case where it can't actually move any air and then complaining that its noisy. duuuuh, thats the goddamn fan blades cavitating your hearing you ####wit!

And amiga experiance has nothing to do with it, jesus not using anything i learned on cooling an amiga is why i know what to do. An amiga doesn't need much cooling. Neither does the peg for that matter. A single 80mm exuaghst fan should suffice, but 120mm would be better, ran at super low speeds. Figure with one of the larger vga coolers, 9cfm should be more than enough air to cool the damn thing,, again, 17 watts... Hell you could probably build a duct going from the cpu to the power supply and cool it that way.

I did provide some usefull information.. you just have to read to get it you see.. thats the key there, reading. don't expect people that no good solutions to sit here and kiss your ass just becuase your an idiot. Stop asking for handouts. If you want ifromation first you have to realize your solution is not only wrong, but also ####ing stupid. So thats what i do, tell you what a #### up you are then provide some recomendations or clues and see if you figure it out on your own.

No racial slurs.... on the subject.. is whitefuckingtrash a racial slur or just observed behavor?
