    Hi all,

Other than screen size and resolution, is there any difference between the 15" Powerbook A1138 and 17" A1139? The other specifications for both of them seem to be the same.

Since the 17" model is driving a larger and higher resolution screen does that mean that it will be running a bit slower? I'm also assuming that the 17" one will use more video memory? Will that be a problem with MorphOS? Both of them have 128MB graphics memory. Is there anything on MorphOS that would exhaust the video memory - particularly on the 17" one since it will have less free?

    Thanks

I guess bigger resolution could be slower in certain cases in theory, but you probably wouldn't notice much in real use. In any case people have been using even bigger resolutions than that 17" has with slower graphics cards too.

128MB graphics memory will be more than enough for both resolutions, no worries about that.

In my opinion the decision is just if you like the machine being more portable (15") or would you prefer bigger resolution to work with (17"). 17" is pretty large physically and may be a bit clumsy in that way if you need to carry it with you often, but it's also a pretty sweet looking screen for a laptop :)

I myself have 17" A1139 and then 12" and 14" IBooks, and if I'd have to choose just one, I probably would look for a 15" A1138 myself. Although I haven't used one, but it sounds like a fine compromise between resolution and portability.
