I just received a card I shipped to Cesar LLarrinaga in Spain, by return mail.
I am not sure what happened there, either he didn't need it or there was a problem that was not noted with the return.

Shipping to Spain has been a PITA.
The first card I shipped was damaged on arrival, and now this.
So far I am out also $50 in shipping costs.

Anyone else that wants this card can have it (gratis), with the qualifier that it may only work in a G5.

I have a second 9600Pro (256MB) that is OSX and Windows compatible.
I heard it rumored that these will also work in G4s.
I will be posting this to eBay later this week, but if any of you would like a better offer than what I will be posting it for...

I paid about $100 for this about half a year ago, but if it goes to a MorphOS user I am willing to take a fraction of that.

Sorry to read about your shipping problems and lost money on postage costs. I have been lucky with all of my shipments of Amiga and MorphOS hardware over the years, except once, when I sent 2 A3000 desktops to the midwest of the USA. The box they were in was destroyed by the time it got to where it was going, and the buyer, instead of making a claim to the postal service, demanded a refund from me.

I didn't realize you were buying and/or working on any video cards older than the 9800 series. I thought that the performance of the 9600 series was much slower, but maybe it was only the 9660 (or was it 9650?) Mac edition that came stock in many G5 towers that was flawed in some way.

Both the 9600 and 9800 series were released in March 2003. They were the successors of the 9500 and 9700 series, respectively.

I had some older Radeon cards like the 7000 and the 7500.
But the card I stuck with the longest was a 9500Pro (basically a slowed down 9700).
I have had more 9800 cards than I can count (great series and DX9 was around a long time).

The Apple 9600Pro and 9600XT are good choices for people that are not fixated on having the fastest card.
They draw less power and they can be had cheap.
Flashed 9600s are definately to be avoided as they really don't work well (in short, the worst canidates I have ever seen for flashing).

As basic video cards with a fair amount of memory, I would recommend them.

And, of course, we have accelerated drivers for all R300 series cards (something the red team lacks).

Did you ever see a speed comparison between the Apple branded 256mb Radeon 9650 and other previously released Radeon video cards? It was either the standard video card for 1 or more G5 PowerMac models, or was an optional "upgrade" card that could be chosen at the time of ordering. I can't find the page with the results I am thinking of, which I had read previously, but it showed that the 9650 I mentioned above to be significantly slower than even the much older Radeon 8500, 9000Pro, 9600XT, and possibly even slower than some others, in a few of the test results. I think there was some kind of design flaw in that particular card which caused this lower performance. I'll keep looking for the web page I once read regarding the Apple-Radeon 256mb 9650. I have, or had one of these video cards, but after reading the test results for it, I removed it and never used it again.

Maybe the MorphOS R300 driver fixes the speed problem with that card, but I doubt it.

Here is one link that supports (partially) what I wrote above, but it does not have the test results, so isn't the page I remember reading years ago.

    The X800XT won't do that?

That is anout the biggest power draw you can get away with in a G4.
I had a FireGL X2 in an MDD, but I think it contributed to the psu failing.

Anyone else know if the X800XT supports dual link DVI?

Yes they have gone up in price.
But at least they have 2d acceleration.

Edit - I checked the specs on the Apple X800XT.
One connection is dual link and the other is single.
So you could run one 30" Apple display.

    Hmm, no takers.
Apparently I can't even give away an Apple Radeon 9600Pro.
