I have this nice agp ASUS X800XT that I wanted to sell on Ebay but while looking for prices to compare I noticed these could be reflashed for Apple G4 - G5.

The only thing that is holding me back is that some time ago I remember there were problems with reflashed cards and MorphOS.... is this still the case and is there another way besides reflashing them to find out if it's a problem ?.

I currently have an original apple Radeon 9000 pro 128mb so I hope it's going to be a step forward to start with ? I see there is no Warp3D compatibility for the Radeon X800XT ... but why should I need that ? I am not going to play old warp3d games.

Well, it doesn't hurt to try, right? You can always save the original ROM and restore it if something doesn't work. At least that's what they say here.

On the other hand - I have my G5 up and running, just no X800XT :) Alas, I've just ordered one (they come as cheap as 10 € anyway). Now, where can I find a PC with an AGP port, and a floppy? Wait, I remember my father in law got one...

Aaargh ... i spend half the day installing a spare pc with windowsxp and all updates, anti-virus and things needed. And to make things worse when i was ready I came to the conclusion that both the board and the pc are pci-e. Silly me.

I do have another interesting agp card, a Radeon 9800xt 256mb ... But now I have to build another old pc to do the flashing.

I did also fail on flashing, because:

the card I got has on missing "Elko"or "Kondensator" part - I dont know if it even works without it.

And the card needs an extra molex power plug, which the Dual 2.3Ghz G5 dont have.

How do you install such a card? Do you use Sata to molex adapter to power it?
And there is another small (power?) connector on the X800XT - what cable should I plugin, here?

I read, the flashed card do only work with VGA-out, the DVI does not work, then?

Seems, I stay with the 9600 PRO for a while...

    kind regards

Normally the needed powercable is in the box when you buy it new. Certainly with the older cards that were new when not every powersupply had the plug.

However Ebay comes to the rescue ebay

I think that most people use a molex splitter and get power from the DVD drive, not trying to reverse SATA power to molex. The adapter you linked to is not intended to give molex power from a SATA connector, it gives you SATA power from a molex connector.

If it is anything like the 9800 card flashing, then it won't be too compatible. Flashes over sure but shortly once games with 3D started, i would lock up. Quake 3 was a good example of that happening. Something about the smaller more compact BIOS. It is worth a shot if you can buy a card for super cheap.

Hmmm... I should sell my x800 Mac Edition sometime. :)

Well, I just did that. Reflashed a PowerColor Radeon X800XT with "reduced" 64KB Mac ROM.

First of all - AtiFlash ver 4.17 didn't see the card. 3.15 worked just fine.

Just... I get no video from that card. Neither from DVI nor D-SUB, no OF, no early boot, no MorphOS, nothing. And yes, I did feed the card with Molex (disassembled the DVD-RW and reused its power plug).

Well, it never was more than just a blind shot anyway... Now how could I reflash this damn thing back?
