My Powerbook G4 boots past the question mark and finds the OS and immediately freezes on a gray screen with the front LED going solid on.

I tried booting from the MOS CD and it has the same issue.

Tried resetting the power management and NVRam. No change.

    Any ideas?

Sure it's an A1139 - 17in 1.67 high res. The last of the Powerbook line.

This is the same model I have and it works fine so we can rule out that this is a MorphOS inherited problem at least. It sounds like a hardware problem. The hard disk is my guess.

Hmmm, I got some "freezes wit grey screen" issue a few days ago - it was a currupted filesystem.
Maybe try resetting NVRAM or external hdd

Have you got RAM sticks in both slots?

The second RAM slot is notorious for being broken by design.

Try with RAM in only the first slot.

Looks like the hardware is totally shot. Nothing gets power.

It ran MOS for many years without issues and I did check the ram slots thanks!

Does anyone know if there is a process to move the license to another computer or do I have to purchase another license?

I just ordered another Powerbook with the same specs as the old. I hope to move the hard disk over and be up and running.
